Vanderbilt is the problem

That's not why we're losing. Without his rebounding it would be worse.

We're losing because we're too easy to plan for, Cal wont reign in his players, and the team is simply not that good. It's not put together well.

As the year goes on we become easier and easier to plan for. It was one thing when we had Davis, others could know whats coming and couldn't stop it. When you don't have that you've got to be diverse, mixing up looks / creating turnovers / playing with a chip.

We are none of that and Cal has become far too vanilla of a coach to take an average team and win with them. He's capable, but right now he's refusing to adjust.

It's not over yet though, Cals teams are capable of clicking really, really late and looking totally different.
That's the best assessment, that leaves a glimner of hope, post ever.

The make-up of this roster, along with youth, is the biggest problem. We have too many guys who share the same skillset combined with poor shooters. It's a disaster but Cal needs to find a way to make it work.

The worst thing Vandy does at this point is rush passes. He's out there busting his butt. And some people should be kissing the butt he's busting. If it weren't for him right now? We'd be in a world of hurt.

He hasn't made a difference in W/Ls but its hard to question his effort and rebounding.

Vanderbilt only has one problem right now and it's fixable. He's just suffering from a little live action anxiety which causes him to rush everythingNerves and anxiety kills confidence. Makes a normally confident kid look goofy and awkward but he wasn't that way in high school . Those short shots he struggles with now we're automatic in high school but now there are big guys in his face and he's afraid of getting his shot blocked so he releases the ball on the way up before the natural release point and before his eyes find the rim to get rid of it before the block comes. Once he learns to go from fast and quick to calm before the release he will become unstoppable around the rim and with his energy and ability to go get the ball I'm as excited for his future than anybody else.

Please don't tell the committee. They will see us as a 13-18 team if he had played all year.

He's not "the problem", but he hasn't exactly been stellar on the offensive end (31%). Lot of work to do there. We'd be in deeper trouble without the depth he provides and his outstanding rebounding numbers (6.3rpg in less than 14 minutes per game).

No its definitely you that doesn't know, we all can see it. Vando may be our best all around player......when he calms down and gets over the anxiety.
I agree he is rusty and he is playing way to fast. But how many games does he need? Through 8 games: 30 mins, 4 pts, 6 reb. He can't hit anything past 3 ft. Does he need a full season?

In all honesty, I’m not really sure what to think about JV yet.

One thing I am sure of, he’s not the savior of this team, and wouldn’t be the savior of any team for that matter. That being said, I think he can be a positive contributor eventually. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but I was probably expecting too much.

Well the op is right about our record since he started playing .

But we most likely would have the same record or worse if he wasn’t playing.
