Our only chance to even think about making a run is if he turns out to be our best player.

I hear what you're saying, but we aren't making a run. There just isn't enough offensive skill on this team, and Vanderbilt won't fix that. This team will get better defensively, I have no doubt about that. But they are going to have crippling offensive droughts against good teams all year.

People are building him up as some type of savior.

Good player for sure, not a superstar though, IMO; which is what this team needs.
He isn’t a superstar shooter, but he is a superstar at ball handling, passing and D, that should take everybody up a level. At the end of the day somebody does have to hit some shots though!

Zen, I misspoke. Was referring to the quality of play and how the current level won’t be good enough when our competition level gets serious. A little help from one player might make a huge difference in how the others respond.
No problem man. I actually regretted that post and deleted it. Great points by the way.

Tend to agree. The SEC is going to be brutal this year, especially on the road.

I just hope he can catch on pretty fast, you know it's going to take him awhile to come around. He's to talented not to help the team, I'm looking forward to him playing.

His Cardio may not be great, but it's not like he forgot how to play in a couple of months.
I'm not sure if you played sports religiously, but when you do, then get injured enough to take a significant amount of time off......you don't hit the ground running. Takes quite a while to rebuild both your body and mind.

Reminds me of us waiting half a season for Randolph Morris to be eligible again. While he helped, he did not solve our problems.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing here, but it's not like he's just been sitting on the couch with his foot propped up on a pillow. I'm sure he's still been working out quite a bit.

He is a superstar, he is our best player. He would've been a top 5 recruit had he not missed so much time. He will be the best rebounder in the country at his position especially on the offensive end. His game is truly special and my non uK friends I've been telling the whole time wait til our best player gets back. Because he is truly our best player mark my words on this one the kid is a monster. Those who doubt won't doubt for long. He also has point forward abilities with his handle and passing ability and a very much improved jump shot by seasons end in the all star games. We could go 6'9 or taller at every position if we decided to put him at point for small stretches. He brings a ton to the table. He's the recruit I've been by far most excited about since day one. Hope he plays sooner than later.

Have to agree. Even very good players don't miss a lot of time and just come back without a lot of rust to get rid of. I just hope that there aren't too many fans on here that are thinking Vanderbilt will come right in and make a immediate impact and then don't give him a fair chance to get his game back in order first. What am I talking about, this is Rupp Rafters!!!!!!

Not likely. The fans on here aren't even giving the freshmen already playing a chance to get their games in order, let alone JV.

Not only will he add depth, but he will help in offensive flow imo. Another guy to help in rebounding and lead the break. I just hope he is truly healthy.

Agree and disagree.
We need him soon. We do need more than we currently are getting. He is another piece to the puzzell. But he isn't (probably) going to be our "best player", but I don't think he has to be. But he does have to be a complementing piece, offering something we're not getting. It's Nov, we are going to get better. So is every team. But a team of 6-8 FR and 2-3 Sophs is going to improve more from Nov-Mar than a team with upper-classmen.
We need Vanderbilt to join soon, so adjustments can be made, and he can fit in sooner rather than later. It will probably take 2-4 weeks for him to be fully integrated in to the lineup and everyone knowing and accepting their role (adjustment). I certainly think we have enough to "make a run" in March. I have to say, I like what I'm seeing from this team more than I did the 13-14 team before mid-March.

I am not ready to give up on this team yet. I see a high ceiling of improvement. I think/ hope they improve and function as a team instead of what we saw last night. There is nobody better at that than Cal.
