Well, first off you need to decide what you plan on doing with it? Mostly work, mostly play, work and play, hunting, yard work?

I’m in the market as well. My dad has always had Polaris Rangers. They seem to hold up well. My uncle has a Can Am Defender, and he says it’s way better than the Ranger. I really like the Can Am Commander. Pricey as hell though, but they all are.

I have a Polaris Ranger that has served me well with light duty for 3 years.

We have had multiple Honda Pioneers at work. The 1000s are fine, the 700s gave us issues.

I’d look hard at the Can Am defender. Have heard good things. But at the end of the day, the Ranger kind of set the bar for the market.

Once you decide what you main purpose of use is, then get on YouTube and search for reviews and comparison models.

I’ve pretty much settled on the Honda Pioneer 1000-5. It fits my needs better than some of the others. Probably will bite the bullet in a couple months.

What I like about them is the machine is basically the same length as other 3 seat machines. Honda has designed two seats that fold down and into bed. If you need a couple extra seats you can fold em up, if not leave seats down and you have a fully functional dump bed with tailgate. Other machines add about 3-4 feet to total length To get the extra seating. 3-4 more feet while turning around in the woods could be a problem at times.

Pioneers have a clutch type transmission and actually shift like a vehicle when in auto mode, or can be shifted manually by paddle shifter on steering column. Polaris and Can Am use a centrifugal belt to convert to torque to the wheels (like the CVT in some automobiles). I’ve had a couple of Polaris ATV’s never had a belt break, but did get belts wet a couple of times. It’ll smoke like it’s on fire till it dries out.

i've had a Polaris Ranger for a few years. love it. i'm rough as hell on it too. creek riding a lot. what i learned early on is that someone that has a Can Am, loves it and its the best. someone that has a ranger, loves it and its the best. so be careful who you ask. my ranger had some major wiring problems the first year i had it. had to take it back to the dealership 5 times. after an hour of riding, it would overheat and not get back. towed home isn't fun. come to find out, the dealership wired the radiator fan wrong. when they are shipped, they don't come with it wired up. they let the new guy wire it. anyway, they finally had someone fix it correctly and haven't had a single problem since.

I would go look at all of them and find the one that’s the most useful for you and the most comfortable to ride in. Durability wise they’re all about the same unless you plan on running the hell out of it. If you’re wanting something to use for a little work or utility, look for the ones that have bigger beds on the back. Also look at how comfortable they are to ride and drive. I’m tall so some of the models are a little uncomfortable to get in and out of. My personal choice would be something like a Yamaha Viking. We use one on the farm for work and for hunting. It’s got speed and power with a lot of room (easily fits three people in the seat) and has a good size utility bed.
