UTSA coach is going to get a tech. He can coach, but doesn’t have any credibility with these refs. It’s funny. One ref just said “I said ‘no’” several times after the last charge.

3 times in a row and no points plus a foul. He just should not have the ball in his hands much on offense

Wheeler driving the lane is just dumb

I was actually going to say the opposite until he did that. He's been a lot better at picking his spots this year. Unfortunately he has completely forgotten how to shoot. I think he might be one of those guys that needs a lot of minutes to shoot decent because of his weird shot, but he's not quite good enough to get them

He’d be a really good player in the Southland or SWAC. But yeah. He’s just not in rhythm with what we do on offense. We play jazz fusion and he brings a banjo.

This UTSA coach is a poor man’s Capt. Sportsmanship. Which is to say he’s a total d#ck.

Simple perusal of the halftime stats since I cannot watch right now, it appears we are doing almost everything very well. Not taking care of the ball, rebounding, shooting, passing. The one thing that obviously needs to get better is the defense. I always determine 1st half defense based on 30 pts. You hold a team to under 30 at half and you’ve done a good job on defense. 30-35 is avg. Over 40 is bad defense.

Not sure why we run shot clock under 10 before we even try to score. We act like this is a ranked team & we're hoping to hold on for the upset. We should win this by 20.

This game will do it for me with Frank. Horrible coaching. Know your opponent.

I will never, ever, EVER understand why Haith (and many other college coaches) play not to lose at 4 min left in the game. WAYYYY too much time on the clock. Keep running your effective offense and scoring buckets.
Especially when your playing a team of 3 point shooters

This team has some talent - no real depth (that noted... Wheeler should never see the court imo). But, Igbanu and Etou can play anywhere. Taplin and Joiner are nice. Jefferies is solid. Henderson and Scott are so so...

BS over the back call on Etou. I hate anticipation foul calls.

And agree Nevada. Only reason it’s close is under 5 min we stopped trying to score.

So damn frustrating. You know your defense is bad but the offense is good. Stick with your strength. Basketball isn’t too complicated, most of the time.

Well we definitely didn't deserve to win this one going away with our refusal to make changes defensively. Still, we are a fun team to watch. I'd much rather have this than an inability to score.

The color guy is spot on...
You HAVE TO MAKE the other team uncomfortable on the offensive end.

Tulsa adopts the exact opposite approach - make them feel really cozy!

Wow! Just wow!
I would not have brought in the freshman Joiner for Scott in that situation. Play your upper classmen and close out the game. The frosh comes in and makes a freshman mistake right on cue.

High press. Pick up man to man just your side of the half court line. Teams like UTSA and Illinois St don’t have the size to really hurt you inside so they shoot from 3 a lot. You know this so play disciplined man to man, stay with your guy and call switches on the screens. If you hedge, stay with the ball carrier long enough to switch or for his man to recover and resume guarding him. The last 3 they hit and Scott is backing down to the foul line- let him go to the damn basket. When you’re up 7-8 in the last 2 minutes only 2 things can hurt you- not making your FTs and letting the other team shoot uncontested 3s. When you shot FTs as well as we normally do, LET THEM GO TO THE DAMN BASKET WITHOUT FOULING. They can’t close the gap by getting 2 and then giving up 2 on the other end.

I hate when we play the slowdown game. You can be more deliberate but when you get an open shot take it. When we don’t we inevitably take a horrible shot with a second to go or turn it over.
Or don't pass up a lane to the basket.

Attack the basket damnit. 12 point lead down to 4 with the slowdown turnovers.
We passed up three or four baskets we could have, should have scored and maybe got a foul at the same time.

That one towards the end where Wheeler hesitated on an open lane and then went in the not completely open lane a second or two later pissed me off. Got fouled, missed the shot, and missed one or two free throws. Got so angry, that I can't remember if he even made one of his free throws.
