I was flipping back-and-forth between the volleyball game and the bowl game where Utah state was playing Oregon State. Utah state was 1-5 last year and had terrible culture problems. Some players not wanting to play toward the end of that season.

This year they finished 11-3. I missed if a new coach lead the turnaround, but what I did pick up was that they have 43 new players this year including 17 from the portal.

The moral of the story is you don’t go from terrible to good with small tweaks. I still think frost is being too conservative in making the turnaround. Like what is the delay about in getting that 4th new coach. Would not mind seeing 3 more coaches “designated for assignment” also (chins, OLB, S&C) and then hit the portal for all its worth.

You had me right up to the last sentence when you said Chinander should be fired. Why?

They hired a new coach. Blake anderson who had success at arkansas state. Very impressive job he did. They lost 38-7 to sdsu last year at home compared to winning 46-13 this year

Too conservative? It is only year 5 in a 10-15 year turnaround. It takes time to get things going at a “no-name” school like Nebraska.

I don't think there was much buyout involved with their coaching change. Schools like Utah State can cycle through coaches with little consequences. Some of us are pot committed......

Their former coach was Gary Anderson who has one of the oddest coach histories. Was at Utah State and rode a good year to Wisconsin to replace Bielema, made it 2 years there then decided Alvarez was too heavy handed and they wouldn’t let him bring in juco’s like Utah State so he took the Oregon State job (paying Wisconsin 3 million to leave)when Riley came to NU,

He quit at Oregon State walking away from a 12 million dollar buyout in year 3, Utah State hired him for a second run where he got canned in year 2.

Yeah… plus Riley left Neb in the worst shape of any D1 program in the history of college football… not that garden of Eden that Anderson left the new coach there at USU

It should also probably be noted that Utah State hasn't been playing NU's strength of schedule either. That said, I think their QB depth chart may have been stronger than ours if that guy who was playing in their bowl was in fact 3rd on the depth chart.

Usu beat more p5 teams than. Nebraska this year. There really is not excuse for how bad we have been. Next year needs to show a significantly better product
