Just lost 80-52. We might be historically bad.
I’m beginning to think it’s possible that we miss the tournament. If we don’t beat Loserville next week, where are our good wins going to come from? The SEC is sucking so far.
The pumpers will say “we’re everybody’s super bowl”.
Not many good wins to be found in the SEC right now, but the possibility for a lot of bad losses.
Yes they will. They’ve already told us how wonderful Evansville and Utah were. Now they must resort to the old super bowl excuse.

San Diego State is actually quite good this season.

Do you actually have hope in Richards or Montgomery being able to carry the load in the paint? One plays like he just learned to play the game still and the other wants to be a perimeter shooter. Do you see anything out of Whitney that makes you think he will improve marginally at anything at all? Brooks starts to look better and immediately disappears again.
Quickley does nothing but spot up shoot and he is sucking at that. Juzang is supposed to be a good shooter but he also can't shoot. Maxey spends most of the game jacking up ugly 3's or charging into people and hoping the ref makes the right call.
Hagans at least plays good defense, gets assists, and occasionally makes good drives to the basket but can't shoot well enough just like everyone else. Sestina is one of the best players but has major limitations on defense. He at least can shoot and gives you his all every game. We won't go far with only Hagans and Sestina playing well.
This term feels like a bunch of square pegs trying to be put in rounds holes. We have issues with our defense and short bench so wouldn't a zone be beneficial to the team (screw the NBA)? We have limited quality size so wouldn't it be beneficial to go small and try and play as fast as possible with all these guards and wings?
With our poor shooting, we can't just take our time getting up the court and waiting for the defense to pack it in. We don't shoot well enough for that. Unfortunately Cal is going to keep being Cal and not change and we will lose to the first good team in the tournament we face (that is if we don't completely implode and don't make it in). I just see way to many issues for this team to overcome.
Sadly it's just going to take a couple of really bad seasons for Cal to either move on or correct his glaring deficiencies on offense. With as bad as CBB is this year though, I sure never thought this would be one of those years.
What sucks is every time the path to a Final Four or championship is there for the taking, we have issues and can't take advantage of it.
2018 - Our region parted like the Red Sea and we couldn't beat a 9 seed with an 11 seed waiting in the wings for a trip to the Final Four.
2019 - We get nothing but non power 5 teams all the way to the Elite 8 and only have to beat Auburn to get to the Final Four. They just lost a key player the game before and we beat them twice previously. Third time was the charm for Auburn.
2020 - College basketball is a steaming pile of crap this year and a Final Four or better is there for the taking. Unless something drastically changes we aren't taking anything. Quality wins are going to be at a minimum so we likely will have as hard of a path as possible starting as like a 5+ seed (probably an 8 and no Aaron Harrison to carry us).

it’s like venting/posting predictions in game threads, you don’t write a hopeless script before the season unfolds. you’re asking questions that will answer themselves. maybe us being healthy would help. but imo you’re taking your questions to an extreme if you’re asking why i’m willing to let the season happen before, like you, predicting what will happen and expecting fans to conform, then i don’t know what to tell you. maybe i’ll answer your questions later. they’re valid.
that’s discourse. your initial response was either defending your anger of the loss? my having perspective for the increasing crowds? otherwise you’re just giving a more general analogy compared to my evidence of the two games. either way your second response could have been you’re first. it was a jump.
This is not all the player fault this is just as much if not the coaching staff fault when you have 5 stars at ever position something is wrong with the coaching
After the evansville loss we actually had posters saying they were a borderline top 25 team. After the Utah loss we had people saying they were potentially top 15-20 material. Neither of which are close to true. Just pure delusion.
