I was going to be coming down from Maine and just going to the game, so I wanted to park further out from the city and catch one of the green lines in.Cleveland Circle for the bar.
walk to stadium from there.
Boston College station is closest to the stadium, short walk.
chestnut hill is next closest to stadium 10-15 minute walk.
These three stations are all on separate branches of the green line. So you can’t get from one to the next in the train.
best to walk to the stadium from any of them.
To get to the bar you can take the C Line or the D Line.Cleveland Circle for the bar.

Yes, that would do the trick. Riverside Station might be your best bet for parking and riding in on the D.I was going to be coming down from Maine and just going to the game, so I wanted to park further out from the city and catch one of the green lines in.
Does parking somewhere out past Newton and getting the D line to the Chestnut Hill stop make sense?
Riverside Station in Newton has 950 parking spaces. Not sure about other stations.I was going to be coming down from Maine and just going to the game, so I wanted to park further out from the city and catch one of the green lines in.

Boston College stop, at the end of the B Line, is by far the closest.Actually I think the Reservoir stop is the closest. And Cleveland Circle might be closer than Chestnut Hill.
As said many times here, Riverside is by far the best for parking, avoiding traffic and convenience if you're doing a day trip.
Thanks againBoston College stop, at the end of the B Line, is by far the closest.
On the D Line, Reservoir and Chestnut Hill will each be 15-20 minute walk. (As would Cleveland Circle stop on the C Line.)
If taking the D from Boston, get off at Reservoir and walk. If taking the D from Riverside, get off at Chestnut Hill and walk. If coming from Boston and looking to minimize walking, take the B Line to Boston College - this is directly across the street from campus.
Thanks again
Only interested in the shortest walk so Boston college stop line B for the game
In your opinion, which stop closest to
Cityside.
Again not walking at all between stadium and restaurant
ThanksWheezer -- the closest stop to Cityside is the Cleveland Circle stop (at the end) of the C line. It's directly across the street. If something terrible happened and you mistakenly got on the D line instead, you would be walking 2 minutes longer.
Please take into account the Green Line to the Boston College stop is perhaps the slowest trolley ride in all of America. Thanks again

SPEAKING OF WALKS.A friend, of my daughter, and his daughter are taking a walk from a town in FRANCE, ON THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO. 500 miles. 4-5 weeks.Any body here familiar with it?To get to the bar you can take the C Line or the D Line.
The bar (Cityside Tavern) is about a 20 minute walk around the reservoir to the stadium. (A nice walk in good weather.)
- C Line stop is Cleveland Circle.
- D Line stop is Reservoir
The B Line takes you all the way to the Boston College stop, if you're coming from the city.
If you take the D Line, but skip the bar, you can get off at Chestnut Hill and walk 15 minutes. Not as nice of a walk because there's less gameday atmosphere than if you walked from the bar/Cleveland Circle.
It's already been said but I'll just add to the chorus that the B line trolley on the Green Line that goes through BU, Allston, Brighton, all the way to BC is absolutely the worst transit line in history. It will get you there but it will not be fun.
I dont want to hijack this thread, but the Martin Sheen movie (The Way) is centered on walking that route.SPEAKING OF WALKS.A friend, of my daughter, and his daughter are taking a walk from a town in FRANCE, ON THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO. 500 miles. 4-5 weeks.Any body here familiar with it?
a google check found this number you might tryCan someone in the know post which stops on the T line or other line that are the best to depart when going to the BC stadium and also which for the Cityside bar.
thanks in advance
That's the Commonwealth Ave branch. The Cleveland Circle branch goes straight up Beacon St.
I would budget at least an hour if coming from Gov't Center/Park Street. At least 45 minutes if coming from Copley.Lol
I
LOL
I remember it makes a million stops
I like the idea of parking at the hotel and just leaving it there
It worked out in the past for us
any idea how long time wise from downtown Boston to the stadium on the green?
No problem from Riverside to Reservoir on Green line, correct--says about 20 mins?I would budget at least an hour if coming from Gov't Center/Park Street. At least 45 minutes if coming from Copley.
No. That line is pretty much a direct shot. Should be about 15-20 minutes. No problem from Riverside to Reservoir on Green line, correct--says about 20 mins?
And, I downloaded the ticket app, but there is no option to purchase a ticket from Riverside to Reservoir?

I've only used the T a couple of times and so I really can't advise you, but parking outside the city center and taking the T sounds like a good idea to me.Can someone in the know post which stops on the T line or other line that are the best to depart when going to the BC stadium and also which for the Cityside bar.

Yes, 15-20 minutes from Riverside to Chestnut Hill. I would also just take into account that the Green Line is unreliable. It may only leave every 15-20 minutes as opposed to every 3-5 minutes like the Subway.No. That line is pretty much a direct shot. Should be about 15-20 minutes.
You just purchase the swipe to get on the train, and then get off wherever you want. (It's like the Subway, not the commuter rail.) You can get off at Chestnut Hill or one stop further at Reservoir (near the bar).No problem from Riverside to Reservoir on Green line, correct--says about 20 mins?

We are driving in early Saturday morning on 90 East. Seems with the lack of parking (don't want to park at Waul), this is our best option, unless you could suggest another. We don't mind walking 1-2 miles. You just purchase the swipe to get on the train, and then get off wherever you want. (It's like the Subway, not the commuter rail.) Do the Commonwealth line cars still travel in convoys? Nothing for 1/2 hour then 3 in 3 minutes?Yes, 15-20 minutes from Riverside to Chestnut Hill. I would also just take into account that the Green Line is unreliable. It may only leave every 15-20 minutes as opposed to every 3-5 minutes like the Subway.
Agreed, that's your best bet. Take 90 East to 95 South, park at Riverside (right off of 95). Easy 20 minute ride in to Chestnut Hill, then 15-minute walk to the stadium (.7 miles). Or easy ~22 minute ride to Reservoir, 2-minute walk to Cityside Tavern, then a pleasant 20-minute walk (1 mile) with all of the other RU folks around the literal reservoir (below) to the stadium. We are driving in early Saturday morning on 90 East. Something like that... there is no rhyme or reasonDo the Commonwealth line cars still travel in convoys? Nothing for 1/2 hour then 3 in 3 minutes?
