Because they are 30-1 against that schedule. When people say just win baby, that's why. If you win all your games in a sport that makes you play a ton of games, you'll have a high RPI.

RPI can't handle teams like Fairfield. They are 30-1 against a bad schedule. But it's damned hard to go 30-1 in baseball against D1 competition which is why they are ranked that high. But it can't truly measure how good they are because they haven't played any good teams.

It has something to do with the formula and the fact that they don't have any non-conference games to factor in. (The formula needs non-conference games to factor in to work right.) Fairfield is playing conference teams only this season.

I guess it’s just having only one loss. Here’s what they’ve done:

Q1 - 0-0
Q2 - 12-0
Q3 - 2-0
Q4 - 16-1

Surprised that one Q4 loss didn’t drop them further.
