This would be Urban's biggest accomplishment. He didn't have to rebuild Florida or Ohio State.
Health issues getting to him, or needed more co-ed, er, family time.Urban did disappear from last Saturday’s broadcast.
Ruhle would be a better option IMO. Urban's style won't work now with free transfers & NIL. You can't be the overbearing task master like Meyer likes to be.
The recruiting game is completely different you no longer have to be a maniac recruiter like Meyer to get kids, you just need $, nice facilities and be able to offer players a good path to the NFL. 2/3 of those are covered just by being in the Big Ten. Just need boosters to pay $$$$ to get those players. Probably need 13-15 million per recruiting class.

So about 11 paid players, but you need a healthy mix of paying to play and guys that don't care about the money and want to be at Nebraska (Local kids). Those kids are likely to be the LBs and Safeties and developmental players at other spots.
I think the Internet Trolls have won this time around. They've sufficiently thrown out enough rumors to completely muddy things up. (NOT saying the posters here hearing these rumors are the trolls, most of them just pass along what they've heard.)
Some of the actual trolls starting these rumors are from rival schools (like Kansas/Kansas State) who are just trying to mess with their opponents by saying the coach is leaving. Some are coaches agents fishing for raises. Some are media types spreading speculation as clickbait. Others just get pleasure in their basements from trolling. Etc.

The “MJ in waiting” line torpedo’s this rumor. Mickey would be 59 years old at that point. He’s not going to be mentored by any incoming coach to be the successor at that age.

He’s already done that at the very beginning of thi whole thing. Thinking he’d give it any further attention is just wishful thinking. Fans are just going to have to accept its one of Rhule-BoB-Patterson. Not great options I know, but thats what 25 years of toxicity and bad coaching hires finally ends up getting you. BoB would be the best hire of those three. Rhule would flake out in 3-4 years and run. Patterson would just be gong through the motions and grabbing a nice check to ride of into retirement.
