You do not want Urban Meyer.
His history of hiring assistant coaches was questionable at best. It was the combo of Ed Warriner and Tim Beck as co-OC's that cost OSU a national title shot in 2015. It was Meyer's retention of Zach Smith despite all the smoke regarding unsavory behavior that ultimately led national scrutiny, administrative investigation, and to the onset of his 'brain cyst'. Regarding recruiting, I think the days of traditional recruiting are over and the name 'Urban Meyer' just doesn't hold the sway it once did.
If (huge and improbable if) Meyer does somehow end up at Nebraska, I think it would probably be a short and drama filled stint. The Huskers would improve, but I just don't think Meyer could turn them into death eaters like he did in Florida. That's not meant as a slam on Nebraska, it's facilities, location, or national reputation. OSU got the neutered version of Urban Meyer but with a little swagger and name recognition still left in the tank. Both of those things are gone now IMO.
Frost is not the answer but Nebraska is a destination job and there are coaches who would jump at the chance to go there. If I were Nebraska's AD, I wouldn't consider hiring a big name coach or the hottest current name. There is too much pressure to win right away when that happens. A fundamentally sound coach from the MAC or D-II that runs a well oiled machine of a program could come in right away (somewhat under the radar and without unrealistic expectations) and win 8-9 games in year 1.
