I hope this is more like the time TO told Nick Saban to chill because his team was better than he thought and not just the internet being the internet.

This is the same guy that said Bo Pelini had stockpiled a ton of talent for us before Ohio State ripped us 62-3. Can't take what he says seriously, even if you agree with it!

Maybe, but situation matters. When he said that about Bo it was right before the game was played. It is coach speak.

Why say this about Frost now? They won’t play again for another 10 months... what is the purpose of saying this now? Feels different to me than saying it days before they play the game.

It props up the conference. It props up OSU's schedule and argument to get into the playoff should they win today. People will point to their schedule and ask who did they play? Why did they get blown out by a "mediocre" Purdue team? Why did they almost lose to a "bad" 4-8 Nebraska team? Urban didn't say this out of the blue because he necessarily thinks it's true, he said it to benefit himself.

That’s pretty cynical if you ask me.

You may be absolutely right. But a part of me thinks he means it. And why not? Haven’t we all been saying something like this? Haven’t the talking heads been saying something like this?

I know that Urb says thinks that are beneficial to him and his team. Spot on there. But that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t believe it to be true.

Perhaps he's trying to help Frost recruit? :)

There’s a link to him saying it in the original tweet. This is not at all the context in which he said it.

Let's not be like Iowa snowflakes. They will know HC Scott Frost by the cleat marks on their necks. It was a compliment, no matter how self-serving.

Kirby showing the same disrespect to Nick it seems...

"Well, it boils down to one thing: Do you want the four best teams in or not? It's that simple," Smart said. "[Alabama] sat at home last year and got to go in the game, while everybody else is beating each other up, and they had a good football team. Give that coach across the sideline [Alabama's Nick Saban] a vote who he doesn't want to play. He'll start with us. I promise you, [he] don't want to play us. It's not our decision. It's their decision. But you're going to put the four best football teams in."
