Can anyone give an explanation of how that process works? The email from the Ath Dept did a horrible job of explaining details. What if you opt in to upgrade and your seats get chosen by someone choosing before you and you end up in worse seats? Is that a possibility? How do they know what seats are available if I just opted out today?

I doubt your seats will come available to others until you actually secure new seats.
