Jimmy is right on those posted odds shifted from the initial odds. As of now though, UNC and UGA (+275) and Texas (+300)

Each three field .980+. ERA favors UNC (3.86) over Texas (4.08) and Georgia (4.92). Georgia led the nation with 174 homers (Texas 103, UNC 80). The market bought power.

But In-tournament CWS stats say you win if you don't kick the ball around. These combined for 12 homers and fielded .978 or better.
11' South Carolina (1 HR in CWS, .982 in CWS), 13' UCLA (0, .984), 14' Vanderbilt (1, .978), 15' Runner-up Virginia (3, .989), 16' Coastal Carolina (2, .984), 21' Mississippi State (5, 1.000).

Go Heels.

Looking at 112 CWS teams (season stats 2011‑2025), 88% had an ERA ≤5.00, 86% a WHIP ≤1.45, 75% fielded ≥.975, and only 34% hit .300.

North Carolina shows .982 fielding, 3.86 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, .415 OBP, and a solid .293 batting average

Ole Miss has 107 HR, better WHIP (1.32) and strikeout numbers, but fields .974, has a 4.37 ERA, and hits only .264.

That’s why UNC is a -160 favorite and under 8.5 (-110) is sharp. Ole Miss (+124) is a dangerous but flawed power underdog.
