Baylor wins by just 4 at home vs. WVU. Zags still ahead with the #2 offense and #18 defense. Kentucky is #3 offense and #20 defense. Model predicts they'd be a 2.5-3 pt favorite if we played on a neutral court.

I don’t know why it happens, i assume it has something to do with running up the score against bad competition, but this happens with gonzaga regularly now. they get into the conference part of their schedule and their adjusted efficiency margin just takes off to the point their numbers make it look like they’re head and shoulders better than everyone else.

They are clearly a good team. One of the top 5 imo. But there are about 3 or 4 other teams that, when healthy, have an argument as being the best as well imo.

Gonzaga, Baylor, Kentucky and Auburn all have a case. Baylor has struggled lately but they’re battling injuries as well.

Kentucky got that case as well as almost 90% of our wins have been double-digit

I disagree. Baylor generally passes the eye test. They've got some serious ballers, and would be a tough matchup for UK. Plus, they have two key players out. I don't want any part of them until it's time to knock them off in the final 4.
gotta beat somebody. Baylor just doesn’t strike me as very good right now, and I know they are down two guys. But WVU is not very good and they controlled a good amount of that second half.

If Auburn gets dibs on placement wouldn’t they choose the South region and San Antonio? I’d expect us to be in Mid-West with Purdue at this point. This is an odd season. Usually you have to move a 1 seed to the West bracket but someone is getting moved East this year. It might be Kentucky by default.
Zags-UCLA West
Purdue-Kansas Mid-West.
Auburn-Baylor South
UK-Duke. East
Still have Houston to put somewhere. Probably 3 in South

I really think KP and all the other metrics out there, need to change how their formulas are weighted.

It seems to me that beating the 98th rated team by 20 points, gives you more than beating the 50th ranked team by 2 in a true road game.

Honestly, Gonzaga has not been as impressive in conference play this year as they have in the past, but it doesn’t matter, they still keep climbing in the metrics.

Beating Portland on the road by 20, is nowhere near as impressive as beating aTm on the road by 1. I don't care what anybody says.

I mean we've seen this team spank UNC, Kansas and UT this season so it's possible.

But unlikely lol.

I'd settle for a 2 point win in the finals tho lol

I loves me some Mike DeCourcey but he was on The Take today and said if you just go by UK's resume. we would be a 5 seed. He was quick to add we have enough chances to improve that though, and I don't think he has anything against us at all. Was still surprised to hear that.

Yeah i don’t agree with mike on that one. we might not be a 2 seed but a 5 seed is low. 4 quad 1 wins. 7th in the net. all 4 losses quad 1.

Him and Cal are buddies though so it’s possible he’s trying give the guys motivation.

I hope someone else knocks them off in the tournament.

Purdue will drop to a 2 seed imo. The B10 is too tough for them to maintain a 1 seed. Purdue still has @MSU and @Wisconsin left plus a lot of other difficult games. I could also see MSU or Wisconsin taking Purdue's 2 seed.

Zags - UCLA - West
Baylor - ??? - Midwest
Auburn - ??? South
??? - ??? East

With some combo of Duke or UK as the final 1 seed with the other as a 2, Kansas and Purdue as 2 seeds....settling into these spots.

Houston's AAC schedule is heavily backloaded with @SMU, @Cinci, @Tulane, and @Memphis all still to go. They'll be a 3.
