Unproven Freshmen Over

Let’s look at the Reeves situation. Cal has a PROVEN Senior. 25 double digit scoring games last year. Wants him To come off the Bench behind UNPROVEN Freshman. Why?? I think the recruit and their handlers have been promised minutes. If you can give me another explanation into why at this point anyone would expect Reeves not to start then I am all ears.

If all the Freshman come in and play lights out after several games and their play sends Reeves to the bench then that is understandable. But as of right now…Promised minutes and a starting position for the Freshman makes the only Sense as to why Cal wants Reeves to start the Season on the Bench.

Reeves knows this. We wonder why Livingston stayed in the draft. Livingston knows this.

The Cal Brand is all about getting kids to the NBA. He evaluates that possibility while a kid plays a season at UK. I think If a player doesn’t shine that first year Cal spits him out and goes looking for his next NBA player. We have the highest turnover of players in College Basketball. Why? Because the players know their Coach will give their playing time to the Newbies.

I am ready for this non sense to stop. We need a New Coach whose main purpose is to win Basketball Games for UK. If players make it to the NBA,so be it. But Mitch gave him a contract that won’t make that possible in the near future.

Look for this next year to hear the same old excuses of being Young as we lose 10+ games and then have 5-6 players leave the team.

If you wonder why, go ask Antonio!
If Miller and Quickly can come off the bench, so can Reeves.
If MKG had sucked then Darius would have taken the spot.
Whitney did suck so Quick took the spot and ran with it all the way to SEC POY..
Reeves needs to get over himself, he ought to have sense enough to know that DJ and Justin are way way better basketball players than him at the same stage.
They have star potential where Reeves doesn't.
Cals job is try and bring that star potential to reality.
You would think the draft process would have humbled Reeves but he seems like he just doubled down on thinking he something he's not.

No Cal’s job is to win Basketball Games. How many 10 loss seasons and low NCAA Seeds does it take for him to understand you play your BEST Players at the start of the Season and bring the new guys in slowly. We lose many an early game because we throw the Freshmen out there before they are ready for those extended minutes. Cal has been here 14 years and only won one Championship with Freshman. I think he has shown that model doesn’t work.

It's highly likely that DJ, Rob, and Justin are all better than Reeves.
If not then Reeves would quickly replace the one who wasn't getting it done.
As far as winning games, what was UK's record the seasons that Miller and Quickly started the season as 6th man?
Cal really threw MKG out there before he was ready lol.
Whitney was given the chance to show what he could do, which was next to nothing so Cal pulled the plug
Quick is inserted in starting lineup and the rest is history. Whitney starting didn't derail the season and Quick showed he was a true pro by the way he handled it.

Yet oddly enough, this was the makeup of the teams that Cal has had the most success with.

Everyone wanted him to get more experienced players, so he did, and our success has dropped considerably. Those same people still complain, though.

I highly doubt at the start of the season that’s true but Cal is more interested in getting these freshmen ready for the NBA than winning early Marquee Games which will effect your NCAA seeding .

Yeah because our star freshmen have always struggled early..
You seemed locked in on the idea that DJ, Rob, Justin and Aaron are Askew, Boston,Whitney and Skal 2.0
If so Reeves ain't savin' em.

They could be. I’m more locked in that Cal pushed away a double digit scorer from last years team.
