Asking you Tech guru’s….I used the Logitech Harmony remote for years. It finally died, and they no longer make it. The only component in a line-of-sight is my TV. All the other components are inside a cabinet The old remote handle that beautifully. I bought a SofaBaton remote, but it is really quirky. I know it’s a real 1st world problem but….What do you guys recommend? TIA

If you add an IR Repeater / Extender System (around $20–$40), you won't need a complex RF smart remote.

How it works: A tiny, almost invisible IR receiver eye mounts to the bottom bezel of your TV. A thin wire runs inside your cabinet to a distribution hub connected to mini stick-on IR emitters attached to your hidden gear.

The Benefit: It "translates" line-of-sight signals into the cabinet. Once installed, any standard traditional universal remote (like a basic $20 GE or Philips) or even your TV/streamer remote will control everything behind closed doors.

Catch: It's a premium device ($300+) aimed at home theater enthusiasts and smart-home integrators (great if you use Home Assistant or complex AV setups).

Otherwise dump the obsolete setup and go streaming (Roku or Firestick)

Also it looks like Ebay has a few Logitech Harmony remotes for sale. Not sure what model you had but worth looking

When I heard Logitech was getting out of the remote control business (I have a Harmony that is the remote I use to store remote codes for gear I don't have the original remotes for), I decided to buy 4 Sony RM-VLZ620's off Ebay. They're learning remotes (for modern gear you must have the original remote to teach the Sony the buttons - not web based programming like Logitech's) that through the past 20 or so years I've either used this model or the comparable earlier remote (I believe RM-VL600) - that are VERY robust. I've never had one of these break down on me.

For most older gear pieces, they do have a lot of preset codes that work. I've got some gear from the 2000's and the Sony's work perfect for them.

Granted, I believe Sony stopped making universal remotes about a decade ago too - but I've had great luck with them through the years. And there's a bunch of the 620's still for sale on Ebay.

I'm using 2 of my 620's yet today.
