Uniform Choices Matter...

We always wear maroon pants at auburn. At least we did under Mullen. I’d like us to go all white this weekend.
I was disappointed that the inverse helmet color theory was disproved. But all white with maroon helmets is the move here.
But, but the CROOTS man... they want something that pops. You know, change it up. Make it exciting. Dynamic uniform changes are legit and the recruits want it.

No. We had black uniforms ready for last week, and they went unused. That's why they're still ready.
The plan, I believe, is to wear them for Abilene Christian.
3-0 in white helmets this year... Maybe white helmets are to football what black jerseys were to baseball this past season? And we've worn white helmets on the road more frequently than maroon the last two years. So don't be suprised if we are in all white on Saturday, or if not that then white-white-gray like we wore in the Egg Bowl last year.
I love the current iteration of white helmets, hated the K-Mart looking ones we wore under Croom but these are much better. I do agree with the maroon pants haters though, I generally don't like them. The only exception was during the early Mullen years when they were almost completely solid maroon and we wore maroon helmets and facemasks. I didn't mind those. The maroon pants with stripes we've worn in recent years don't look great to me.

The top five recruiting classes year in and year out have not changed uniforms ever.
I have always said no to white helmets and maroon pants....
Wish we could outlaw both.....there was a game several years ago where i couldn't decide if i wanted to go to the game...back and forth.....then i saw we were wearing white helmets.....so i immediately decided to stay home....childish, yes, but i hate them that much......i did not like last weeks uniforms.....and i hate maroon pants...

I second this. All White looks great and Maroon at home. These are the two best uniforms.
So, you based your decision on whether or not to go to a game because we were going to wear a white helmet????? I hope Wal Mart never makes you mad, you will starve to death.
While the white helmets look ok, you young whipper snappers must not be aware of our “ curse of the white helmets “. While we may win a game or two wearing the white helmets, the long term effects of wearing white helmets is devastating.
Been a Bulldog sine the late 1950’s and there is a long history of bad news associated with white helmets. Some people blame it on the dead Indians, but no, it is really the white helmets. I guess it could be the helmets and the Indians but that is just too overwhelming to even think about. Am I just one of those crazy old blue hairs that this board loves to bash? Perhaps, but can we really afford to take that chance? You don’t see Alabama wearing white helmets. Just saying....... I am reaching out to all Bulldog blue hairs. Don’t be afraid to speak out, let’s mobilize against the white helmets and save our football program from the agony of repeating the 1960’s.

That pretty much IS the tradition. The recent abominations are not (black, camo, whatever). Gray or silver with maroon jerseys works out well, or even with the away uniforms.
Well, I'll come out and admit that I'm one of those so-called "blue hairs", and darn proud of it!! Put me in the (obviously distinct) minority, but I like the maroon pants on the road. I like the grey pants, either home or away. AND, I have unabashedly said on this board many times over the years that I HATE WITH A PURPLE PASSION those white helmets!! Talk about looking cheap, dime-store knock-offs, that's what they look like. I'm not a fan of those matte dull finish maroon helmets either, but they are certainly more palatable than those god-awful white things. That snow-man all white road look is so plain and bland - jeez put some color out there one way or the other!!
I believe there was a quote from the AD at the time that Merlinz was hired that there was a desire to get back to maroon helmets. Other than the Shira and Croom years, that's what I've known and loved. And I mean shiny ones, too!! The ones with the maroon facemask weren't bad at all. But I will never be hesitant to condemn and voice my opinion on those absurdly bad white helmets. Geez, even Nebraska puts a red stripe and a red facemask on theirs. That would make them barely tolerable. Otherwise, those all-white helmets make me want to puke!!

Two thoughts on uniforms. 1. The white helmets are, at least to my mind and that of a lot of other older fans, reminiscent of the two worst eras of MSU football, the Shira years and the Croom debacle. Every time I see them I think 3-2 and Maine. They should be permanently banned. Never mind what Adidas wants, get rid of them. 2. The big boys of college football have a uniform. One. You don’t see Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, et al wearing oddball uniforms. If you want to be thought of as one of the big boys, look like it. It’s called a UNIFORM because it is supposed be uniform. Maroon helmet, maroon jersey, white pants at home. Maroon helmets, white jerseys, white pants on the road. Period. And for the love of all things maroon and white, lose the damn black!
Ever think they don’t have to bring a player in based on uniform. Maybe they sell it on top 5 National, fan base , NFL potential and the biggest thing they are untouchable by the NCAA. Other teams are at a distinct advantage to these teams
1. Maroon pants are an abomination, there is no place for them ever.
2. White helmets should only be worn with white jerseys and white pants.
