Thanks Dad
I'm confused by this response. You had already given a mature, thoughtful response to my post which, while I may not agree, I can certainly respect. But then 12 minutes later you decided - forget that, I want to be obnoxious now?

Oh well..... I think its better if players, coaches and parents stay away from boards like this because the game means something completely different to them then it does to the regular fan. And I think that is perfectly ok. If fans didn't get stupidly irrational about a game played by a bunch of 18-22 year old kids, then your son wouldn't be getting a free ride to one of the best universities in the world. Your first response suggests you get that completely.

Both responses do. I am 54 years old and have served my country all over the world. I don't need your advice or opinion on being on a message board. I value your opinion even though I disagree with it.

No, you might not need it - but you will get it in spades when you choose to hang out on a public message board. And coming from one that has been labelled a malcontent by the pollyannas, your aggressive response and needless reference to your military background repeatedly will soon get you an unwanted label.

Before you jump on me, I sit on the Board of and oversee a NFP that works with Vets, among other groups, to help in the transition back to civilian life. So, I'm not bashing you for serving (yet I expect the standard kool aiders to arrive and find something to b1tch about...). But, I think we have all read that you are military and don't need you to cite your occupation in justification of your posting.

Why is this troll permitted to spew negativity the day after signing day? He never has anything positive to say about the program.

I think Lou hires the trolls to come here and chase people over to the pay board. He'll ban Roni for using too many exclams, but the trolls are free to crap on the board with impunity.

Very well then. I hope your son has a fantastic time at Northwestern and a highly successful playing career!

Anyone wish they'd give Lees a look at QB? We are supposed to run a dual threat system.

Fitzgerald was asked about Riley at QB during the signing day press conference, and he actually laughed before saying No, he was recruited strictly as a WR. Shows how clueless fans can be.

It wasn't a justification. I simply saying I have survived this cold cruel world without you watching my six. I will survive a message board. Besides, we are all family, aren't we? I probably shouldn't have taken the approach I did, because it is counter productive to what I want, which is to be part of the Wildcat fan base. I apologize.

Yup, but more like a western Kentucky hillbilly family with a bunch of mysterious cousins, regularly squabbling at the table over who gets the last piece of squirrel and who gets to sleep with which cousin.

I should fit right in then. Not as keen on squirrel as I am possum.

Yes we are. A pretty special bunch. And you should know that despite our initial exchange I am actually "Seriously Likeable". Rivals just gave me a trophy saying so! :D

You seem to reference "Polyanna's" and/or "kool aiders" in just about all posts too.

Here is a list of things I find underwhelming:

Air Supply tickets
TV dinners
$44 M sock puppet (aka Roger Goodell)
Tombstone pizza
Latvian subtitles
Tom Cruise
Lee jeans
Space Invaders
Lag bolts (construction screws much better)
Eggplant Parmesan
Underpowered hot air hand driers in the bathroom
Interstate 95 through NewJersey
Budweiser
Motel 6

2016 Wildcat recruiting class is nowhere near as underwhelming

Maybe so, but I disagree. You have two kids coming from Katy Texas who played on an undefeated national championship team against the best players in Texas. They are great players who know how to win. And you have Jango who started every game over higher ranked players and we went undefeated against the Nation's best teams. Larkin wins two State titles in row Jake Saunders has won a State title. I know our other players have won big time too. This is a class of winners who are use to winning and doing the work needed to win. This class is special.

I agree with you CatsDad. This is a really good group. People just like to complain.

It is worth noting that commits in this group chose NU over offers from BC (8/20 commits), Wisconsin (6), Iowa (6), Vandy (4), Houston (2), Duke (2), Baylor, Michigan, Notre Dame, Utah, Pitt, Boise St, and a bunch of other power 5 programs (don't quote my math).

Did anyone notice that Miller got down graded to a 3 star in 247's rankings this week. In fact, ALL 4 of our 2017 verbals got lowered in their composite rating after committing. What a crock of biased crap!

C'mon, Hungry, why the need to crap on my 17 year old self 33 years later. No love for a night at the arcade after watching Risky Business?

I never liked Space Invaders. It was boring. Defender was awesome, even though I sucked at it. There was some guy in my town who played Defender for something like 15 straight hours on one coin. He was pretty good.

I told u why. No fan support, thus no subscription sales.

Here is what I want to know which service downgraded them? I like 247's transparency as they show a historical trend of their ranking. I can tell from that chart they were not the service downgrading our 4 guys. I don't have the recruits rating committed to memory on all 4 major sites, but it appears Miller was downgraded by Rivals. He is 5.6 rated and I believe was 5.7 last time. He seems to have moved down a few slots in the Texas rankings. Slater and Miller are in the 80's now slotted a few spaces apart. I can't remember which one was higher before but the separation was more than a few spots. Our other two guys seemed to move down in either their position or state ranking based on my memory.

I can't see any change in Scouts ratings. ESPN is IMO least accurate in ratings and shows an extreme bias to the SE. I have no idea if they changed ratings on these guys as they haven't publicly ranked out the 2017 class.

So Lou, is there a tool with the Rivals database that shows historical rankings? Also, puzzled why there would be movement at this time of the year when the HS is over and the camp season hasn't started?

In the basis of all 4 of our 2017 recruits dropping in composite it is easy to draw the same conclusion that Mr Jango does that our commits don't get the same props as the football powers commits due to influences out of the control of the commits.

I personally like our guys flying below the radar, but these downgrades need to acknowledged when our own fans are "underwhelmed" by our commits.

ESPN is the worst, I don't even count them. Out of the big 3, Rivals is the worst. Scout and 247 are even in my opinion. I prefer 247 layout the best.

Nope, the downgrade was by 247. Miller was downgraded from four stars to 3 stars and from the number 19 defensive tackle in the country to number 23 . Kind of amazing how this happened when there were no games played in the past week.

Maybe he had a six pack, went to Burrito King, gorged on a chorizo guacamole bacon burrito special, and put on 8lbs of bad weight.

In the past week, 247 suddenly discovered four defensive tackles heretofore unknown to them who are all better than Miller. Makes perfectly good sense if you have lost some of your marbles.

I am not seeing that FA. The 247 rating for Miller according to the bar chart on their site has been 89 since at least 9/24 ( as far as it goes back). The "composite" line on the chart shows a dramatic drop in January, right around the time he committed. 247 has Miller as the 285th ranked prospect for 2017, the composite, which includes 247 higher rating has Miller at 353.

Somebody lowered him and if my memory serves me correctly, Rivals has. Not saying others (ESPN) haven't too, but this is not on 247 from what I can see.

My question remains is there a historical tracking of prospects ratings In Rivals? If so, it would be interesting to see the impact of committing to schools pre and post commitment. This would be interesting for all 4 sites. All 4 of our guys dropped, to me that is more than coincidence. Not trying to bash Rivals at all, but am trying to either prove or disprove the contention that rankings are significantly impacted by perception of the program they commit too.

Don't mean to belabor this, but isn't he blue bar 247 and the green the composite?

Also, FA as one of our moderators can shed some light on whether Rivals tracks the rating changes somewhere that we can access?
I have no idea about the bars. I know he was four stars and now he is three. I know his composite number was 89 point something, and now it is 88 point something . He was rated the number 19 or 20 defensive tackle in the country, and now he is number 23 without anyapparent change in his national player ranking. When you figure out how all this happened at this time of the year, please let me know. I do not believe that the numbers changed for any of our other commits.
As far as rivals tracking changes, I have never seen such a thing. Maybe you can ask Louie.
