Your numbers are cute, but not really relevant. I think Smith is better right now than Duval. Doesn’t mean I don’t like Trevon.....I just don’t think he’s capable of doing what Smith is doing now. Besides, put Smith on Duke last season. How much better would we have been?
In college, yes, the jury is still open. Smith isn’t off to an incredible start in the League and barring injury is going to be a really good one.

All I said was Dennis Smith is better than Trevon. That’s not outrageous. It’s obvious. It would be a pretty big disappointment if Trevon didn’t accomplish way more.
I love Trevon. A great and truly unique point guard who fits this Duke team like no other. But he has limitations. That doesn’t mean I hate him. That doesn’t mean he sucks. It’s reality. But despite his limitations he’s capable of carrying and leading this Duke team where few others before him have.
Reverse the situation. What would Duval's numbers look like if he started for NCSU last year after missing a whole year from an ACL tear?

Dennis Smith is a dynamic player, and there is more collegiate data to back that up vs Trevon's impact. That said, we don't know how much that comparison will change over the course of the year as Trevon acquires experience. And even more important to a team is how well the player fits. Trevon has the makings of being a superior defender and pass first pg, which I think fits this Duke team better. At the end of the season it'll be interesting to look at this comparison again.

Duval is, so far, a very good point guard on a hopefully loaded team. We don't need him being too aggressive, only picking spots to score. We need him distributing the ball to Grayson and the bigs. Duval would have helped last years Duke team a lot, and I think he can help get this one deep into March.

Quick recap for those who joined late. Smith did not have a good game against UNCheat last year. Smith >> Duval. Smith is in the conversation for NBA ROY. Therefore, no way Duval can be effective vs Berry this year.

I'm comparing the two players in response to the current collegiate season, where they both are/were 4 games in, and the thought of how Duval will fair against Berry. You then responded (to my response to the Hole poster) after I clearly identified the word "much". You may want to slow down before you try to call someone on comprehension, especially after you made the error.

Agreed. The differences you nailed here can also been seen in a small statistical sample I cited above (through 4 games).
I like Trevon on this team. He explosive but not as explosive as Dennis Smith Jr but who is? Dennis Smith Jr recorded a 48 inch vertical after returning from a torn ACL.
Duval is a pass first point guard that explosive and has a great wing span.
He can get into the lane with ease and distribute to Carter or Bagley for easy points or kick it out to Allen or Trent Jr for open jumpers.
