Some rough play in the last couple of innings. Duke taking advantage of everything and still going.

13-8 bottom six still no outs. Two on

Worse pitching staff I have ever seen. Would be good for slow pitch. Looks like we are probably loosing our best hitters. Oklahoma is a good landing spot Desent pitchers away from being competitive.

We all know that our problem is pitching. We were up on Duke, but like great teams, they came back and beat us. They are the better team right now. Unc80 we have had this conversation for awhile now. There is nothing that Megan and her coaching staff can do. Bottom line, they need money to get better pitching to come to our program truth be told. Can you tell us how they can do this when the powers that be have already stated that they are going to pump money into football, men's basketball, women's basketball, and baseball. Where is the money going to come from? That is the issue. Megan and her staff are doing the best that they can under those circumstances IMO. Go Heels!

Win and stay alive, lose and season done.

If you go straight down the RPI list, the last bid will be #43. That assumes no bids stolen.

We are currently #48. There are 8 ACC teams 43 or lower, there were 9 bids last year so it'll be around there.
We are now 44th post dook loss. 32-19 overall

Two SEC teams above us are ineligible due to losing records (#32 Aub, #41 Mizzou) so we are effectively 42nd

One spot above us is #43 GT with a 30-27 record vs our 32-19 record. They have one more ACC W than us, but vs a weaker ACC SOS. We did not play head-to-head. I could see the last spot coming down to us and GT.

It is going to be real close, but probably not going to make the cut. This would be a fun team in the tourney to bring some offensive interest in some regional, Hopefully somebody on the committee clings to that.

FYI, here are the recruits that our softball team has coming in for the 2926 class. As you can see we have two pitchers coming in but they are only 3-stars. As you can clearly see, Megan and staff are trying their best to rectify the pitching situation but she is only able to get 3 stars. No 4 or 5 stars for pitching. This is proof that she needs money to help her and her staff UNC80. She is doing all that she can do on her end. She needs help bad from the AD and above.

You can also see who we have coming in 2027. We have some 4 stars in this class and one of those 4 stars is a pitcher. This is proof that Megan and staff are trying to fixed the pitching situation.

We gave up the most runs ever in an ACCT game. Awesome.

Didn’t make the NCAA tournament. Not unexpected, honestly.

Gotta make a change at the pitching coach in the offseason. I hope some of our big players don’t transfer out after a very big letdown. Their goal as a team was publicly stated to make a super regional.

We were no shoe in. But, we should have made it.

Our RPI is better than GT and we have a NPOY candidate on the roster!

That just seems like a miss. Let the best players play and definitely don’t intentionally exclude one for a worse team

Their RPI was only two below us. Similar amount of ranked wins but they won the series over ranked VT at VT. Most likely what did it. We were first four out.
NCAA didn’t punish our best players. Our pitching staff did.
GT also didn’t take an L at home to the worst team in the conference and they finished 9th in the league to our 10th.

I get it. Pitching staff was not great. Definitely needs fixing.

But, we were better than GT (both in RPI, and by the fact that we didn’t lose 27 games), so it’s still a snub and bummer.

Hope this season invigorated the fans and donor base enough to allow us to keep our studs and build on this year.

We lost 10 of our last 13 games (last 7 in conference not counting the tournament) on the season, too. Yikes...

I count 8 ACC teams. Who else in front of us didn’t get in? We had a tougher ACC sched than most. Hopefully that was recognized by the Cte. Anyway, I think our run prevention problems were pretty disqualifying. I wonder how many games this year we scored 6+ games and lost? Too bad, because we had a really exciting offense, and the program direction overall looks very good to me.

One thing I will say for the coaching staff: while I am a firm beleiver a good pitching coach should and could improve whatever players you have, the pitching staff had dealt with injuries all year long. I am willing to bet KRD was never 100% and pushed herself to play. In the fall, we had only 3 pitchers available for a good chunk of time and that is a big part of player development.

here is to hoping we have a healthy off season and can see results of a full offseason of work next year.

I thought we beat GT this year in softball. If so, head-to-head should have been factored in which would have put us in over them. Someone suggested a change in the pitching staff. That is not the problem IMO, we need studs to come into to resolve the pitching problem. This will require NIL money. That is the problem. Where is the money going to come from to bring the pitchers that we need in. If you look at the top teams that are in our conference in softball, those teams do have money coming in for their softball team and this is something that Megan and staff don't have. When we can only get 3-star pitchers to come in and those teams in the ACC that are really good are getting 4- and 5-star pitchers to come in that is the difference. Talent is the key and money is what is going to bring the talent in moving forward. Until we get this fixed, this is where we are going to be moving forward.

Tough end to such a promising season. We broke the record for Home runs by an individual, and more importantly the team as a whole. But we could not make the field of 64. that is hard to wrap your head around.

I have always been of the opinion that if you are on the bubble with 44-ish at large berths, then you really do not "deserve" a shot at the title, regardless of whether you are left in or left out. It is the job of the team to avoid the bubble.

This team would have been top 30 easy with even average ACC pitching. At least we know what works (identifying and developing hitting talent) and what does not...

She can raise money? Correct? Baseball has the diamond heels and the dugout club. I know softball doesn't get rev share but I don't think it does any where else? The rams club is also funding the full max of scholarships. They have two of if not the best pitchers in the state coming next year right?

Wow, thanks for sharing this information about Holub. I had no idea was was gone. Did she leave for another job? Did she get fired? Does anyone know what had happened? Hopefully Megan and Staff can find one that can improve / develop our pitching core. I guess in order to find a top notch coach, she is going to have to pay them a boat load of money. We will have to wait to see who she hires. I hope this person is a good one.

Bummer anytime someone is let go but needed to happen. Appreciate her coming with them from Marshall. But hopefully we can get an upgrade on the pitching coach side.

With salary constraints I’m sure notwithstanding this has to be an attractive spot for a pitching coach with a top 15 offense in the country. Not everything solely resting on pitching.
