after positive COVID case count went from 3% to 14% since students returned.

If you’re the UNC AD, how could you possibly feel comfortable from a litigation perspective telling fall sport athletes they can participate with UNC making that decision?

Well, since covid is on the very low risk end of the spectrum for football players, it won’t be an issue. They are more likely to find litigation due to injuries.

Well for starters, they along with many others need to stop using Covid as

an automatic death sentence. 14% of students and more than likely 98% of them didn't have a single symptom. They'll be just fine. And for those worried about grandpa, well they're away at school where they should be. I'm not sure how you can have it both ways. They along with their families are safer if they're at school.

Face-to-face class enrollment now decreased by two-thirds.

They have just over 19,000 undergrads and slightly under 11,000 grad students.

They are definitely safer at school, than at home with Momma, Daddy, Gramps or Auntie taking online classes..

I’ve come to the conclusion that young, healthy people just need to get this thing and be done with it. Protect the elderly and those that already have health problems. The rest of us need to get on with life, as relatively safely as possible. That is the best way to handle this thing and get our country back to normal.

I’m sure the resident corona-panickers will be offended by that. But oh well.

^^^^This^^^^ is the key for Herd Immunity, instead of old people getting it and dying.

This is what I don’t understand.
Can students sue if they get the flu and die?
Or players if they get hurt significantly?

What’s the difference with Covid? There is an inherent risk in lots of things.
Players could opt out.
Students could opt in for out of in person classes.

If they get the 2 hr test working, does that change your mind at all?

Do you think the big 10 is being irresponsible for practicing?

The real stat is...

0.56% of student body are currently positive and quarantined. Twice that numbers are quarantined as a precaution, and those two numbers stressed their quarantine capacity to 95%. I call that poor planning, and I very much question this decision so soon.

Well, once you get all the other students out of there, Chapel Hill will be a much safer place for the players.

Because they are going to be tested twice a week. There's literally no chance a player will catch the virus playing in a game.

You coronabros are the absolute worst. No idea what you're even talking about. Just regurgitating dumb left talking points.

It's common sense. And it's especially good while they are on campus, and are not likely to spread it to the vulnerable.

Well, you just proved you know less than nothing with that post. It reduces the chance of a player playing with and spreading the virus during a game, but it does not eliminate it. You don't test positive the minute you are first infected. Nothing that we do, and that will include the vaccine when we get one, takes your risk to "literally no chance". That is dangerous ignorance. Most of you have never had to think about anything like this. Those of us in healthcare who are exposed to blood on a regular basis have had to do it since the mid 80s.
