I think Mitch Barnhart and every other athletics director should stop scheduling UNCheat. It would be very easy for all non-ACC schools to do this. I also think that the ACC schools, not named UNCheat should ban together to vote expulsion from the conference for that institution.
Agree completely!
Why are we and other schools rewarding them for the decades long academic charade they've perpetrated? To hell with what the NCAA decides. The schools ARE the NCAA.
And every time Dookie V starts on a long monologue about UK not playing UNC, issue a press release saying "We at UK respect and take seriously the academic requirements associated with collegiate sports and cannot in good conscience take the field of play against programs that do not."

Well, not to split hairs, but instead of invalidating classes, they could have removed accreditation from the school for the academic irregularities. That, in turn, would have opened the aforementioned Pandora's Box. They chose the probation route.
I have been meaning to answer you but this is my first chance. If SACS removes UNC's accreditation UNC would lose federal funding and there would be a lot of people working at UNC losing their jobs. There would be huge political ramifications in that they would have just made enemies of a lot of rich UNC fans and politicians. SACS is a paper tiger. They aren't going to take that heat.

Agree; you just elaborated on Pandora 's Box. In doing that, SACS would also be admitting to the college world it had failed its mission and is, as you said, merely a paper tiger. UNC is too big to fail, and got away with it.

And all of these academics at UNC and SACS sit in their ivory tower believing they did the right thing during every step in this scandal. I wonder at what stage of their lives their conscious disappeared.

If the NCAA does not hold UNC responsible then it would be the biggest scandal ever in which nobody was held responsible . The professor of AFAM at UNC got his charges dropped as did Crowder by a UNC alumn DA and Rams club judge , so the two who UNC claims were the culprits got conveniently bailed out . Nobody else got fired without benefits or pursued legally for fraud , coaches are operating business as usual .

No school would allow staff to besmirch their name without pursuing them , not for a scandal this long and certainly not UNC who preens their image more than any five schools combined . All signs point to UNC being complicit , their behavior suggests no other conclusion than UNC protecting their cohorts . UNC's boosters and leaders are what's corrupt , shameful that criminals are running a university and the people in that state are ok with it .

The elephant in the room is still the racial aspect. Where is the left coming down on UNC for helping rob young African Americans of a legitimate education? I guess like most things they won't go after their own. And most of these academics are in fact made up of their own.

This is totally forgotten in all of this. For years we constantly hear how "people just want to use them (AA) for sports". Well, those same people just made a road map for black youth to be used for financial gain in their academic institutions while robbing them of a legitimate diploma. If the shoe fits, wear it.

And I'm not being political, I'm speaking toward the ideological aspect. It just proves more and more that this wing of academics couldn't care less about the racially divisive tactics they use, it's just a tool.

It's soft bigotry in its purest form.

The absolute head in the sand defense from Unc fans and any other person are undisputedly the dumbest, most asinine, illogical, simple minded, stupidest, most inept cognitive level of thinking that I have ever seen.

I'll write this really simple for the ones who don't get it. If this is out of the NCAA's jurisdiction, then what good and what use is the NCAA?!?!?! A school can't just go and make classes for athletes, throw in a few "normal" students for good measure and just walk away free of any wrong doing.

There really isn't a defense for what happened. If you are a fan of unc, please stop trying to make yourself believe what they're all telling you. It's a lie. They cheated. They know they cheated. The put regular students in classes on purpose. Mccants passed classes because someone else purposely cheated. They all cheated, they know it and are dumb enough to think people believe their garbage and arrogant enough to be mad and defensive when you don't.

This is right. It's not about monitoring classes, UNC admitting to FAKING classes, coordinating the enrollment of athletes THRU THE DEPT SECRETARY & THE ATHLETIC ACADEMIC ADVISORS. What more proof does the NCAA need?

And here is the clincher ...... simply read the CHANGES UNC made to how they ran the Academic Advising Department, who they report to, and WHO LOST THEIR JOBS! It's both an admission of guilt and a confession of a 20+ year conspiracy to defraud both the NCAA Guidelines and frankly the athletes themselves out of a legitimate education.

And in any other forum besides a document to the NCAA ..... UNC has admitted as much because the educational highbrows in Chapel Hill finally got sick of being kicked to the curb by athletics.

Is this the longest investigation to penalty scandal in all of history ? It's like they're delaying to the point that nobody will remember what happened to begin with , I'm ok with that as it has hurt their recruiting . Even when something good happens , Jenkins .

Why UNC paper classes would not have met NCAA guidelines if they were high school classes, which NCAA checks.
