So, what are the biggest issues for UNC - player wise? Because I've only watched them a few times, I'm sure I don't have a complete picture for why they fall short. But they have a Center giving them all the production you could ask for. They have two Guards that can get their shots against anybody, and at times look really good. Is it that the other pieces are just not enough? Is it chemistry issues? I did get the feel watching them that Davis and Love both seem to want the ball all the time, and maybe there is some tension there. Do Davis and Love shoot them out of games sometimes?

I've read that they have bad chemistry and often take bad shots. Their 3 point shooting percentage is horrible, i do believe. Of course, losing Manek was BIG for them. They were blowing out Baylor in the tournament last year when Manek went out of the game and Baylor made that unbelievable comeback, losing in OT.

Glad others are struggling, still hurts but Carolina makes it feel a little better

Another reason I posted this was in response to a thread early in the year in which the OP claimed that UK was the only blueblood struggling. UNC was, at the time, struggling to beat cupcakes.

Hubert will get another 2 to 3 seasons. Making the title game will allow that. With what they had coming back this season has been a disaster though.

And not every thread has to turn into a calipari ***** fest as we are allowed to talk other college basketball topics and teams without comparing them to UK.

It's not as enjoyable poking fun at other failing programs right now. Thanks Cal, you took that enjoyment away as well...

I'm in the camp " I dont care " what UNC does . It makes me feel 0 % better . I mean they went to a final just last year . Davis wasnt an a bad coach then when they came outta no where .. JMHO Bacot acts lazy and unmotivated , and he put on weight .
This...100%.

Other program's struggles doesn't make me feel 1% better about our horrific performances.

I think you have a good point about the loss of Manek being a bigger issue than I would have thought. I knew he was a crucial piece for them last season, but I thought UNC would be able to come up with a pretty good option at PF and that the players they had coming back would improve enough to probably make up the difference and maybe be better overall than last season. Boy, was I wrong. The Guards shooting stats are much worse for one thing. But if you just watch UNC a time or two (like me) you see that the shot mechanics of Davis and Love look really good. I'm guessing it's a consistency and shot selection thing?

From the article

Most everyone thought North Carolina was the team that won 11 of its final 13 games last year, reached the national title game and sent Coach K into retirement. In retrospect, that historic stretch now seems like the outlier.

Never took particular notice but there’s at least one poster on here that’s been saying this repeatedly since the pre-season.
Really glad they did. Would’ve HATED to see K walk off as a six time champion. That would’ve SUCKED! Best possible outcome was KU winning it I reckon.

My MIL is a UNC grad and I'm stuck at her house due to a flood at mine. Anyway, I've watched almost every game they've played this year. They are similar to us. Bacot isn't playing well lately and just keeps getting injuries this year. His numbers aren't bad but he disappears for long periods of time. They are a bad 3pt shooting team and they they've had several games like last night where they went 5-31 for 16%. They miss a lot of free throws too and Leaky Black and Nance just aren't showing me much. Overall they just aren't clicking as a team, much like us.

If you’re a fan of Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, etc. etc. then you’ve probably witnessed your team here and there over the many years return a lot of people and yet maybe that team just didn’t live up to your expectations but that team likely still had a solid year. With this head scratching Carolina team, it’s literally as if they lost their entire starting five last year and did not return anybody.

And from the get go there was no carry over in quality. They’ve been unimpressive out of the gate. That certainly lends tremendous weight to the “hot run” theory. Also as mentioned, Brady Manek became a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. Just plucking him out of there it’s like the other four might as well have gone with him.

It’s not gonna get any easier. They host Virginia and Duke, they travel to Raleigh and while State tends to bend over for them, this a very good NC State team this year. They will be primed for that game. That leaves Carolina’s two easiest remaining regular season games on paper being road games @ Notre Dame and @FSU.

Sorry about the flood. Interior pipes/water works or an actual natural flood like in E.Ky? Either way, I hope you and yours bounce back quickly. In some situations with insurance you might even get some new paint, floors, etc. that the significant other has been asking/nagging (depends on your perspective, I guess) about for a while.

Pipe, thanks, it's been a pain.
