.....same reason Duke never leaves North Carolina the first 2 weekends in March....
#PukeEffect

BINGO!!!

The last few years Duke has got their first weekends in North Carolina every damn time!!

2019 - Columbia, NC
2018 - Pittsburgh, NC
2017 - Greenville, NC
2016 - Providence, NC

..and the year they won it all (2015) they got to play a couple miles down the road from their campus in Charlotte, NC! While the stupid NCAA had the Wildcats playing in some place called Louisville? I don’t even know where “Louisville” is.. but I do know it ain’t nowhere near Lexington, KY!

Puke!

But where was Hurt fouled on the play? Not to mention he grabbed an FSU players arm and pulled him back to get the rebound. Should have been a hook and hold on Hurt or a travel. The refs botched that whole sequence as they usually do in a Duke game
It could have been a charge or walk but you’re never getting that call on the road. He didn’t get elbowed in the slightest but that foul on the rebound was horrible.

Playing a NCAA tournament game in NC hasn't been a home game for Duke in 20 years.

UK played in Louisville once, so it’s totally the same as Duke staying within about 100 miles of their campus every year.

[eyeroll]

Exactly! Even though 2014 was the last time Duke was even within 150 miles of their campus.. it doesn’t matter because we all know Rat’s money makes it to the refs no matter the distance.

Duke fans like Buzzokooka Joe are really on the edge since everyone started pointing out Duke's corruption and the favoritism from referees. Hey Joe, why does Coach K feel the need to have a discussion with officials during every single timeout? During halftime shouldn't K be in the locker room coaching up his kids instead of harassing referees?

The FLST player clearly fouled the Dook player with his face.

Seriously back to back bailouts by the refs. It's sad to watch at this point. 2 clear bad calls to end close games back to back. Dook could very easily be on a 2 game losing streak. I mean they were beaten at UNC. That dude caught the ball and was drilled and that should have been ballgame. On top of the obvious ref help, both teams could have beaten Dook easily but were terrible from the FT line. FLST was the #1 team in the ACC in FT% and went 12-20 and missed front ends late in the game. Dook needs all the help they can get, but at some point in the Tourney probably early some refs aren't going to be able to help them enough.

Shiteshefski is old and getting worse by the day.
He thinks he is gods gift
To basketball and he is owed everything he wants.
He could literally ***** and moan his way to a title or get so worked up in a game the refs can’t save him on, that he takes another court nap.
He is a POS.

Kipp Kissinger, Keith Kimble, Doug Sirmons were the referees for this game.

Sirmons has actually officiated Duke’s final games in the last 3 NCAA Tournaments. All were earlier than expected exits. 2018 and 2019 were very close losses to Kansas and Michigan State.

Of course, he was on the whistle for our Final Four vs Wisconsin in 2015, among other notable losses. Cal has lost his cool over his calls on more than one occasion.

Keith Kimble was on the whistle for our 2017 Elite Eight loss to UNC.

I'm calling it right now. NCAA Selection Committee will give Dook a #1 seed in a weak *** region and they will win the damned Title. The fix seems to be "in" this season.
they will still **** it up... like last year...refs called no fouls on Duke early second half and that ended up ******* them at the end of the game...it was beautiful karma

The Dukie knocked him backwards and his own player caught him in the eye reaching. The initial knockdown was caused by the flailing/elbow swinging Duke player. No other team ever gets away with that play but Duke....period.

It's very clear you didn't watch the replay. Hurt weights 100 pounds and you say that he knocked the FSU player back so much that he needed to flop. Don't let your Duke hatred get in the way of what really happened.

There are other fouls you could argue, but not this one.

That’s irrelevant. You can’t throw your bows around like that. From my understanding, they didn’t even review the play. I mean, wtf?! Either way, he wrestled dude away from the rebound, regardless.

Oh. So it's a-ok to swing elbows as long as they don't land? Got it.

It is only unbelievable if you haven't been watching. Duke should be on a two game losing streak but officiating gave them two wins. Happens every year, rinse and repeat. Just one reason why college basketball has slid to a second-tier sport.

To be honest, making Duke play in NC is NOT a favor to Duke... if you wanna give Duke home field advantage, let us play in NJ.

Eh, elbow wasn't that bad (would have been called an F-1 on Kentucky, or FSU, though), but the ending to the UNC game was BS. Of course, if UNC and Carolina didn't shoot a combined 33-58 FT's and could rebound off a missed free-throw, Duke would have five losses and not three. Duke is not that good, but no one else is either. I don't see Duke winning it because I don't see them playing six good games in a row, and other teams won't choke like UNC and FSU. With that being said, what other team do I see winning six straight?

Correct, just about any big man who’s rebounding the ball will swing around, with elbows high, to try and find the point guard or outlet pass. Happens every game. So, yes, you can definitely swing your elbows and not hit anyone and still be a legal play.

The refs will stop the game to listen to what K has to say. If you notice, the refs will literally look over at the Duke bench for K to give them a command and they make sure whatever he asks is done. It's like after every call, they make sure K approves of it. And I'm not exaggerating. It's sickening.

For all the Duke trolls on here you realize Tre Jones fouls on every play right, both offensively and defensively. Let’s just hope a ref with stones in the tourny calls him for 2 fouls in the first 4 minutes of the game and puts his *** on the bench!

His own players hand did. I hate Duke but I’m not gonna lie.

video clearly shows he didnt hit the FSU kid and was hit by his own teammate.........the foul call more than likely resulted from the assumption by the ref that he did get hit by the duke player, but only because he was he in his "cylinder of space"..........Hurt does have the ability to pull away from guys that are actively trying to take the ball away from him..and his elbows weren't even fully extended out

Right. Happens all the time. There's even a guy that has, in his signature at the bottom, Dakari Johnson swinging his elbows. Now the guy from UL acts like he's shot out of a canon, but yes, elbows are swung on a regular basis.

Nick Richards has been whistled for flagrant fouls just for having his elbows too high when posting up. Not swinging them mind you just having his hands up asking for the ball and the defender tries to get around him and creates incidental contact.

Duke was still up three when the the elbow event happened Glad you can predict the last 12 seconds and count it as a loss. Even if they reviewed it and saw Hurt didn't make contact they still get the ball oob.

Anybody ever consider the refs just facking blow? The majority of them are terrible and just really bad at their jobs? We hold onto these calls that go against us or in favor of the enemy and perceive it as bias. Are there a few with some bias, i'm sure. But truthfully as a whole, I don't think they favor any specific coaches or teams and hate others. They just are really that bad. But also in the interest of being one of the guys, phuck duke and I hope coach K chokes on bilas's and vitale's lovechild gel-baby.

A team like UK that doesn't take a lot of 3's, drives to the basket, and gets a lot of points in the paint, would be a nightmare for Duke.

Dook player decks a FSU player with wild elbows and the foul is called on FSU???
Don't EVER tell me Dook doesn't get a majority of the calls. College refs have to be the dirtiest bunch of SOB's in sports!
UNFUKIN BELIEVEABLE!

You say that. College refs have to be the dirtiest bunch of SOB'S in sports. I believe Mark Emmert would give them a run for their money.
