One of these halftime shows on ESPN hinted that Obama and Congress should look into doing something about getting more minority coaches hired.

Yeah, that will go over real well.

/lock it if it's too political

The black population is approx. 11-12% of the U.S. population and it would only be fair if athletic scholarships are distributed fairly according to the race distribution (after all, Title IX would seem to demand such a distribution). Then that would only require approx an additional 8-9 black coaches be hired.

I can be as asininely ridiculous as those mental midgets on ESPN. And most of those guys and gals are mental midgets.

what with the country being in such great shape and all, maybe our leader should spend time on improtant things like minorities in college football, steriods in baseball, and spy gate

whether they get their economics lessons from the free pressbox food, or they think sports isn't important and they want to feel relevant in their lives, most sports media types are to the left of Castro. Ask Tim Brando how many minororities there are working with him at CBS....and not just the token black guy Spencer Tillman.

If you're going to use demographics as an argument for why there should be more black coaches, then couldn't you say that only 12% of the players should be black? The coaches sign black players because they think they're the best available. Schools hire white coaches because they think they're the most qualified. And looking at how most of the black coaches have fared, that's hard to argue with.
