Northwestern looks to go 1-1 against teams from Louisiana this season when they host the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. The Hawks are 3-1 with their sole loss a 73-0 blowout at the hands of Alabama,. They lead the SunBelt Conference.

NU got a win, but still has some question marks, particularly on offense, after last week's game against UCLA. Defense again was solid against the run and the running game shined, with Caleb Komolafe breaking the century mark.

The Cats should win this one, though Cats wins are rarely without drama.

ULM fan from Carmel, IN tentatively planning to come up this weekend. I appreciate the Claire Chenault reference, leave it to Northwestern to bring some historical knowledge into football talk! It looks like our teams are very similar schematically so like prez77 said, gotta go with the Three Stars over the Few Three Stars. I think this will be a strength-on-strength game. Some ULM notes if anyone is curious:

- We lost Ahmad Hardy, our true freshman RB from last year, to Missouri. He's looking like a future NFL player, currently #1 in the nation in rushing yards and rushing TD at Mizzou. That said, we have a stable of strong RBs that we will rotate in and out (transfer Braylon McReynolds from UAB leading the way). Averaging 5.7 YPC, despite the bama game.
- Aiden Armenta (QB) is a decent enough game manager. He had a great game last week but prior to that has always struggled.
- Our receivers are shockingly bad at receiving footballs. Again, last week against Arkansas State was an anomaly.
- Best defensive player is D'Arco Perkins-McAllister, DB transfer from TCU. I believe he was at TCU during their national championship run.
- We're tied for 1st in the nation in red zone offense, with 9/10 red zone drives resulting in a TD and one resulting in a FG.
- I think our kicker is injured, so special teams will be tough for us if he's still out this week.
- Yes, I'm still salty about the bama game and no, I won't capitalize them. They went for it on every 4th down, left most of their starters in into the 4th quarter, and scored their final TD with one minute left.

I'd predict a fairly low-scoring game that won't take much actual time, a lot of clock burning. Something like 24-14 Northwestern. A single turnover either way could have a major impact on the outcome in this one.

ULM is better on defense than UCLA (still bad) but genuinely horrible on offense. The spread is reasonable.

Final score in the 23-10 range is reasonable.

Thanks for such a nice write up coming from the other side of the fence. Sorry about you losing that great RB. You might not want to show case the ones you have too much this week cause we may be shy a good RB next season. ;)

What pre/game tailgating experience should I expect?

Same prediction as I made last week: we win but don’t cover. I don’t think our offense is capable of scoring more than 21 against any decent FBS team.

I don't tailgate but I can tell you the situation is rather clunky. We are in a temporary, tiny stadium on campus whilst we build a new one. Parking is here, there and wherever, including up by the old/new stadium site. I believe that there is paid "tailgating" near the lake but it's not in the traditional sense. Others can add more to it.

There is tailgating, but it's all private parties in particular lots, so unless you have a group with a spot... enjoy Bat 17

Depends on how friendly and outgoing you are. We are in a temporary stadium this year so people are spread out all over the place, even old friends are having a tough time finding each other. But if you walk around with ULM and seem affable it is not out of the question that you get asked to join in. At least that is what I have heard, I live overseas so I don't get to many of the game so this is all second hand.

With all due respect, on paper, we should win comfortably. The reality on the field may be very different. I want to see us hit mid-season form, grind out a ton of yardage on the ground on offense, and stuff their running game on defense. Going for:

NU 33
ULM 13
