Man talk about a bandaid solution if they're grad transfer you have to fill a lot of spots next year, if regular transfers they sit out next year anyway. Chris Mack looking less than stellar at recruiting

Exactly. We'll have plenty of reasons to make fun of them, relish their misery, etc. over the upcoming few years. Mack has NO other option.

Right. Pretty much nobody left to recruit as an incoming freshman, and they only have 8 or 9 scholarship players returning. They need a couple of grad transfers this year, and a transfer or two or a grad transfer or two next year just to keep afloat.

He is in an extremely tough spot right now. There were no recruits signed when he got there and we are late into the signing period (only 11 of the top 150 guys aren't signed). Your best bet is to go with quick fix guys that will only be around for a year or two instead of reaching for a high school senior that could potentially take a roster spot for 4 years and not produce on the court.

His replacement at Xavier, Travis Steele, is out recruiting him and the grad transfer he had committed to Xavier Evan Boudreaux committed to Purdue over UL. David Padgett could've done this well

He should join a fraternity. Then he'd be Dudebro Boudreaux.

From what I have read ...they only have 8 scholarship players and they are operating under a scholarship reduction as well?

Tough times forsure. The last 2 classes Rick signed were pretty good 2-4 year players with Perry, Williams, King, Nwora, and etc. I think that will be a decent core for him to have to build for 2 years down the road.

I think Steele has nabbed two grad transfers this week, a band aid situation as you call it. I agree that Padgett could've done this well to date. It's going to have to be a marathon and not a sprint at UL...not sure I can think of another program that has been damaged this much in a little while....not that I mind :)

Just to keep straight Chris Mack visiting transfers Joseph Chartouny (today) and MaCio Teague (tomorrow) and has Zach Johnson and Mike Cunningham visiting campus in the next 10 days. Four really good options. https://247sports.com/college/louisville/Article/Louisville-coach-Chris-Mack-and-assistant-coach-Luke-Murray-will-be-in-Asheville-NC-on-Saturday-to-visit-transfer-MaCio-Teague-117297557 …

So things have gotten so bad that they're forced to recruit golfers? A bit old for college. Do you have college eligibility if you've been a pro in a different sport?:sunglasses:

Mack is going to go super hard after MaCio Teague, who he admits he missed on coming out of high school, being that Xavier and Teague's high school are about a mile away. He is going to have to make up alot of ground, as Virginia and Xavier are probably the front runners for his services. The biggest blow to Mack's success at UofL is/was Travis Steele getting the Xavier job. He was Mack's primary recruiter and specialized in the midwest getting guys like Blueitt and Scruggs both out of Indy.

I actually think Mack will do a nice job with Louisville. I loathe them obviously but the rivalry is so much better when both schools are good.

Couldn't care less about the "rivalry". Unlike UNC / Duke, UK is superior to UL in every way, so the "rivalry" is not built to be a good one except for the fact that Louisville is located in KY and the fanbases loathe one another.

If the rivalry is good, that means UL is probably winning its fair share, which really shouldn't happen.

I think he has no other choice. The question is which of these guys can he land? Do they say “there is no way we get probation next year, so there is no risk!” Does that sell? And, what other offers do these players have?

Maybe he should look down the road.. We aren't the best at keeping players.
Well most of our guys move on to the NBA so that’s a big difference. Plus we absolutely own them head to head so I think our system is obviously the better one.
