McGee could likely cut some type of immunity deal with the NCAA in return for providing the smoking gun that buries Pitino and the UL program. But, McGee's attorney is a huge UL supporter whose interests are much more aligned with UL than McGee. Would not be shocking if UL money source is funding Andre's legal defense and silence.

* Powell: "They're trying to dump all this on Andre" and "I got the impression they knew who Coach Mike is". Also, her comments about how Pitino assumed she couldn't write a book can be used against Pitino in recruiting, wouldn't you think?

Surely she isn't suggesting that Pitino is a racist?

I wouldn't use that word, but let's face it, U of L goes into a lot of homes where kids probably know a lot of people like Powell. By that I don't mean prostitutes but educational background. So if Pitino, who doesn't recruit the same kids that Duke, UK, and Kansas go after, goes into the home of the next Chris Jones, what will that kid's mama think of Mr. Pitino?

I think they all know people like Powell and may even have relatives like her. I doubt many would have any respect for her. I just don't think they care much farther than what can Pitino do for us.

Why would he make a deal?
What NCAA institution would ever hire him, now?
There is ZERO incentive for him to cooperate with the NCAA. There are probably thousands of reasons (err, dollars) not too.

one thing that caught my attention and I don't agree with it - at least in the context of the NCAA

the "NCAA source" said "This is not a guy who is turning his head to academic fraud. This is much worse than that"

Now I will admit that I don't fully understand the context of it, and I recognize there are much worse things a program and athlete can do like protecting a pedophile in the case of Penn St., however -as far as the NCAA is concerned as a representative of Universities, there is NOTHING worse than academic fraud. They aren't a governing body for criminal activities. That's why people were kinda taken aback by the NCAA slamming Penn St beyond their charter - even though what Penn St did was reprehensible.

The quote was related to Pitino and him not accepting responsibility but hiring a prostitute for a player does nothing to the integrity of your academics within your institution, the reason for your being.

also - wtf ESPN - leading us to believe that you had some kind of exclusive interview with Andre McGee?

True. I still think he might lose a recruit somewhere down the line because mama bear saw this show and thinks Pitino looks down his nose at people from the other side of the tracks. She'll prefer another coach do for her son what Pitino can do.

I've got news for you,Pitino looks down his nose at anybody that doesn't have as much money as he does except when they can do something for him

These hypocrite son of a bitches would crucify Cal if it was him. ESPN is going to influence the NCAA into giving them a wrist slap and Pitino will be back doing whatever he wants. Well guess what, even if he comes back, Cal will keep giving him his annual *** kicking.
If there was a girl that did nothing more than pop out of a birthday cake at UK for someone's 21st birthday it would be the beginning of Armageddon...the end of college basketball as we know it with Dana, Forde and company leading the condemnation.

I think the NCAA recognizes that their athletes in the money sports are not generally students like all the rest on campus. They also know academics are all over the board as you compare schools. How can you judge Directional State with an Ivy League. But when it becomes a sex scandal they all become nervous parents.

I watched most of it...all I could think about was that the NCAA has let the biggest cheating scandal in the history of college athletics drag out 5 years for 20 years of cheating academically, extra benefits, false diagnosis, etc. No self reporting in 20 years except some minor details at the end of last summer in minor sports just so the NCAA, if they decide to act, would not until this basketball season is over...The Louisville situation is unfortunate and sad...the other situation is horrendous. The other situation now has moved forward to crickets from the NCAA and that fraud looking at a #1 seed...and I would be willing to bet will have the easiest path to a national championship. If they win the national championship and/or the NCAA does nothing to that institution, and the NCAA institutions say nothing and do not condemn, we should all be done with college athletics.

On the money part (which Louisville fans, parroting Crawford, had somehow deduced was only a few hundred dolars), we could be talking over $100,000. They said Andre spent $2000-5000 per recruiting visit. If the 22 parties were all distinct visits, 22 of them could total that much.

Two, on whether a new President would be bad for Pitino - yes, if this were a reputable school. A good school would have a board that wants to hire and empower a qualified person. Louisville won't do that. They'll hire an insider, or maybe an outsider who is weak and agrees to go along with the program. "One thing we want to stress at the outset, Mr. Smith. It's important that the new leader of this university understand its culture, and that leader should share the values the make the culture. Rick Pitino is a vibrant and important part of the fabric of this school. It's important to us that new leadership understand that, and demonstrate his or her support for coach Pitino, publicly. Is that something you could see yourself affirming".

Sounds like Katina just called old bug eyes a manwhore..Love her tenacity

CRAWFORD | Recapping ESPN's Outside the Lines Louisville scandal update story

“Rick made it personal,” Powell said. “That’s what makes me feel just sick to my stomach. Like I was this liar, ‘I’m surprised she could even write a book.’ Of course I may not have come from the same side of the tracks that you come from, but the only thing that makes us different is money.”

From Crawford's piece, here is the money quote:

Another source “with knowledge of the NCAA investigation,” said of Louisville coach Rick Pitino: “He's not accepting any responsibility over several years. This is not a guy who is turning his head to academic fraud; this is much worse than that. If any other coach was connected to this story, by now he'd have already been fired."

ANY OTHER COACH WOULD BE FIRED ALREADY. Louisville is pathetic.

Uber is just a cover. Where do you think they got a tip of his whereabouts? UL needs to make it look like he has a source of income other than them paying for his silence.

The fact that 3 recruits have confirmed that the parties took place is pretty big news. AND the fact about the money given out during the parties ($200-$500). As an investigator myself, that is pretty damaging evidence. Remember this is not evidence needed for a criminal court of law, even a civil suit. The NCAA is operating on it's own bylaws, policies, and procedures. They don't have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. If they trace the money back to anyone else on the staff or Pitino, then Pitino is gone. Even if they don't trace the money, they have enough to sanction UL pretty hard.

Anyone with common sense knows Andre McGee wasn't footing the bill for these 'Recruiting Parties",it came from a University Slush Fund or out of some Boosters Pocket

* Sullivan "I find it easier to believe that Oswald acted alone than Andre McGee." His only contribution, but a memorable line.

I feel so much better about the Warren Report now. Wonder if Sullivan has any thoughts on the moon landings and 9/11 as it relates to McGee.

Come to think of it in the original OTL report didn't they have like 5 or 6 players and recruits that admitted these parties went on?

Somebody needs to hack into Andre's Financial records and see where his Hush Money came from

Although not many new developments I thought ESPN really put their target on Pitino here. Maybe its because he openly questioned the validity of their reporting, which makes him look foolish now. Pitino got ran through the ringer on this report and I got to believe if he watched it he could blow a gasket. Also, it shows him running his mouth was a huge mistake but I am sure that won't stop him in the future. His on the record response to the Trustee came of very JV.
