UK vs Duke predictions

Hard to predict a game that will not entirely be decided by the players on the floor. I know it is a cliche but the entire game really depends on what the refs do with their whistles.

If the players decide it then I think UK pulls away for a 10 point win but if Skal rides the pine all night due to foul trouble and we are not shooting the ball then we could get Michigan Stated like we did a couple years ago when they just blew us off the court to put an end to the foolish 40-0 talk.

I see UK by 12 points (76-64). Duke is going struggle scoring in the half court with their lack of a point guard (Thornton isn't ready yet) and no real post scoring presence. I can see Cal pressing Duke full court and Ulis/Murray/Briscoe creating all kinds of havoc on their guards.

The more I read your posts and the more I think about it I think the refs will probably keep Duke in it until the end but if UK gets a fair or dare I say favorable whistle I believe the Cats win by double digits....say 80-70.

we are assuming a well called game; at least we know it's not going to be Karl Hess as, I think, he cannot officiate games for ACC teams anymore.

Friday night the whistle was awful -for both teams. Last night it was a lot kinder. I think how UK and Duke get into offensive flow depends on how often refs blow that whistle. I do believe we are as smidge better defensively - and, I think, we shot a better fg % overall the last two games? I know for sure it was in the first one, not sure about last night.

I am very nervous - but I will say UK by 4; 86-82

I really don't know.

I hate to be that guy but I just don't find the humor in this. Every time someone posts it as a joke I cringe a little. It's just in poor taste to make light of a potential serious health issue.

I mean obviously he was fine but when someone collapses like that it's pretty scary. All I can think about is this kid that played football with us in high school that went down like that and ended up dying.
Well I hate to break it to you. But he's obviously faking it, lol! Nobody, conviently happens to fall into a comfortable sleeping position when they fieghnt. He SLOWLY, CAREFULLY, layed down and curled up like the baby he is. Its also a pretty big coincidence that it hapens during his worst start in years!

I predict allen, jones and Jefferson will make Paulus and wojo very proud. The ice baths better be ready as those three will launch their bodies into the hardwood over and over again.
Oh the score....uk 77 puke 65

If the refs call a even game an don't let Rat Face intimidate them and calling phantom fouls on UK then I think we win by 6.
Make it 81-75 UK

One of the more difficult games to call in some time because both teams have such completely untested parts. It'll likely come down to whoever has the least fear.

College games are so often won at the point guard position, and we have a very solid PG and they're playing small forwards there. For that reason I like Kentucky close.

Duke 69
Kentucky 74

hit freethrows and we win by 5 or more. if not tossup. talent usually prevails and we have more.

You won't find a bigger Duke hater then myself, but I'm almost certain they beat us on Tuesday. I've watched both ours and their games simultaneously and they're offense is much further along then ours. Considering our defense sucks so far I think Duke torches us 80-72.

Duke 81, KY 75
A ton of "freedom of movement/hand checking calls in the first half, put UK starters on the bench and dukies on the stripe. Duke up 9 at the break.
Briscoe is the high UK scorer, getting 18, 12 of those at the freethrow line.
Skal goes 3 for 12 because plumlee basically bullies him out of position all night and bumps him while he is making that turn around (this is more fact that prediction, IMO).

UK 87 to 84 in OT. Far to many unknowns with all of the young talent on both teams.

I truly hope the Cats win but wouldn't be surprised or disappointed with a loss. In fact a loss on this one might be just the tool that Cal needs to get this team focused.

With UK's lack of defense on the 3 thus far & the way the officials are calling the games, I don't think UK can win
Duke will get all of the close calls & loves to shoot the 3

Can any Duke fan on here explain to me what's up with Sean Obi? though he would be really good for Duke. I saw where he's barley played any at all the first two games. He was a double double guy at Rice.I thought he would have a pretty big impact this year. I see Amile Jefferson has really improved though.

Hoping for a Kentucky win but it's a toss up. Duke seems better offensively while Kentucky appears better defensively. Comes down to whoever fouls less.

Gotta love duke fans.
Apparently Jefferson is gonna shut skal down and jones will do the same to Murray.
The icing on the cake is that we have no one for that turd Allen.
I'm highlighting these 3 puke players as the ones that we will see some amazing flopping from on Tuesday night.

Don't be nervous. These kids are winners. They will rise to the occasion....

as I mentioned on HOB, I'd pay $20 for a UK win and may bet it as such. If UK is favored by anything more than 1.5 I'm hitting Duke. I'll guess Duke 78 UK 75 after watching Duke's 1st game. It's really hard to get a good reading on both team this early but I know UK's turning it over a ton and has had trouble rebounding at times. Duke almost always comes out hot early in the year and a lot of that has to do with Coach K, but they've also rarely been this young. They've never lost in the Champions Classic going into the 5th year now, so it's really hard to bet against em.

at the same time, I don't see both Ulis and Murray shooting as poorly as they did against NJIT likely the rest of the year.

They lost to Kansas in the Jabari Parker vs Andrew Wiggins game.
