UK Title Odds have improved

+6500 a few days ago -- ranked in the 30s, now have moved up to +5000 -- ranked #23. Still awful for UK, but it does show:

1. Enough people feel we have Momcilovic locked up to start putting futures money on UK
2. Momcilovic is a "good player" -- the type of needle mover Pope has lacked forever. When people ask me why I trash the Pope rosters and what I think is a "good player", this is what I mean -- someone who gets people to put their hard earned money on the line.
3. My initial thought (and a lot of you share this) is that this roster + Momcilovic alone would obviously be a lot better than without Momcilovic, but it's not the elite team some of you see. The general consensus will be a fringe top 25 team -- I'm thinking 5-7 type finish in the SEC.

When I see money move, I tend to believe things. So as much as I like making fun of Pope and his whiffs, I think we got this one.

Man…i remember Andrew Wiggins recruitment. Supposedly no one knew anything till he announced. But Kansas title odds for the following season took a rather noticeable jump the night before…when no one else knows, vegas knows.

This is the best evidence yet that we’ve got Momcilovic locked up.

The Vegas odds moving is a far more reliable indicator than the bloviating tweeters.

So, I had to laugh at this...

Not b/c of anything ridiculous that you were trying to say, but b/c of my own misreading of it... at first glance, I first read it as

"6500 days ago -- ranked in the 30s, now ..."

and I thought, what in the world does something almost 20 years ago have to do with this team, and I immediately expected some comparison of Pope to BCG or Tubby's final years, etc.

It's funny where your mind will run if you don't
1. Read carefully AND
2. stop and think rationally

With the odds and roster even with Momcilovic, anyone betting we win it all in 2026 - 2027 season is just throwing money down the drain. This would compare to betting on a mule in 2027 Derby. I am not saying we will not have a good team and should be improved over last season but I think the same odds would be apply just to win the SEC. Invest the planned bet and thank me later.

Not sure what your point is. Florida had a great season and was a No. 1 seed. So I’d say it turned out to be quite accurate.

Yeah just because they barely lost a tough tournament game doesn’t mean they weren’t elite all year.

It doesn't always work out but they were certainly a good team.

Tournament is finnicky -- they hold on to beat Iowa, they probably make the FF. Likewise, they could have lost in R32 in the title year without Clayton magic.

The fact they got a 1 seed shows the oddmakers were pretty correct

You are right its like buying a lottery ticket or betting a 65-1 shot in the Derby but every once in a while they do hit.
