It seems our teams have gotten softer over the Cal years as he has.

He was a warrior with a big chip on his shoulder when he came in. Scared of nothing. His teams before UK and early on mirrored that same attitude. Intimidators. Fearless.

Now he sounds scared and uncertain. Able to recruit everybody and he takes kids that are very nice but with not much of an edge.

UK players are pampered and given much adulation. Does that adulation make them softer and less driven? Too much?

I hope we have some tough driven winners coming in and Cal gets his “ burn your village” mentality back. I liked reading other teams saying they knew they were beat after seeing UK in the pregame warm up line.

Guys like Cousins Wall Bledsoe Monk Liggins Jones Fox Harrelson MKG Teague and on and on. Not so many in the last few years. UK has always been a prideful team with tough basketball soldiers.

Cal’s got the life contract, HOF, a NC title and millions. In his 60s now. Set for life. Motivation? Can he recycle? I don’t see much hope he can. There is a shelf life in that job and he seems to reached it. Can he run it back one more time?

Hoping he regroups next season gets another big run, hopefully a 2nd title, and announces pre season he will retire and go out on a great note. I like him personally but the game preparation, roster build and his stubbornness/ inability to adapt is lacking.

Seeing how many times guys have gotten PUNKED on the court, this isn't any surprise. If it doesn't come easy, they quit and tap out. Not all-but enough to notice.

Cal used to have guys who would get into brawls at practice due to how heated they were practicing/competing.

Now he's saying "He shouldn't have played" when a guy F's up and refuses to meet a pass on the wing and then trots after the player who kicked his ***.

Wheeler needed to keep his *** in Athens. He's a joke.

UK use to be the pic of Ulis with blood running down his face.
Now it's of Wheeler with a boo boo on his knee.

Yes we are soft there is no question. We have been for years. We back down and lose big games and get punked by lesser talent even when we win. It seems like every time some low level average team comes to rupp the announcers talk about how proud they are with the fight of the lesser talented team. No….sooner or later you have to realize it’s not the fight in the lesser team…it’s Kentucky is soft

Then you see a guy get after it a bit in the game (Collins) and he sits. I mean he got CRAMMED on by Graham and how did he respond? By dunking on other end and telling that MF'er he's not going anywhere. Response from staff? Sit his *** all but 2 mins of 2nd Half of a game he helped keep 1 pt margin in an electric Half of basketball.

At some point you need the guys who get in someone's face and tell the opponent they aren't going anywhere just because they made a shot/dunk, etc.....

Most of this team wants to cry when someone dunks on them or throws their **** into next week. Where's the hatred to compete? Cal built his coaching on "Refuse to Lose" and now it's "Well it was tough, INSERT player shouldn't be playing...." or "I need to get confidence up in Oscar so I'll sacrifice a game and ignore the fact we had a guy who wanted to fight entire opposing team and played tough to do just that".

It’s Cal’s biggest failure in my eyes. Poor roster assembly. He’s been building rosters that don’t play to his own strengths. Cal didn’t forget how to coach suddenly. But he isn’t bringing in the same kinda guys that he did when he was winning big. He’s not a good enough coach or motivator to conform when he don’t have the roster he needs. These guys are soft as hell.

I think you're on to something. Our teams have definitely been soft the past few seasons and I can't even imagine the "pampering" and adulation they get constantly. These things must be connected.

Last few tough guys were Bam and Keldon. Other than that I wouldn't take any of them into a fight.

Man, what’s up with this?! Seems like we have a player sitting every damn game. It’s unbelievable.

Your very first sentence sums it up . Our team is a reflection of their coach.

Maybe, these boys need some ED Meds. At this point why not try something anything right away everyday until they toughen up and start kicking ***.

A couple seasons ago I started experiencing a these teams seem slightly off sensation. Last year I was able to solidify the rest of that sensation by realizing there aren’t any “dogs,” on the teams from the last few years. When wall came in…he brought arrogant confidence with him because he knew he was that good. We still have some pretty impressive players, or at least players who could be impressive, but they don’t have that attitude that’s been missing since Shai. No one knows exactly what they should be doing theses last few years, not the players or coaches. Robic must have been the organizer and Payne the therapist. Cal is still trying to coach, but his mind is so off in never, never land, he’s barely there. Orlando has become Cal’s keeper and the exchanges sure have the, “okay, boomer” vibe about them. Enough people want to see what next’s year will look like so Cal will be back. Going to get real interesting around here if he’s back to coach that team, but not long into the initial team activities, one of the guys announces he’s not playing.

Counting 3 Cowbois that were obtuse to the core and the last to see what we were saying for a very long time. Instead of admitting they were completely stupid, they’re just trying to blend in the crowd. Not only were they obtuse, they attacked, and so we’re gonna keep calling them out until they admit it.

But we see you, Cal Cult. We see you.

A lot of you guys never cease to amaze me. You constantly contradict yourselves. Every single week, many of you rant and rave about how Cal yells at the players too much. You claim that players like Frederick are so ineffective because Cal yells at them every time they make a mistake.
Now you want to say that Cal is too easy on the players. You need to make up your minds. I am not talking about Ralph Dalton. I'm talking about many of the other posters on this forum. This is obviously not a physically tough team. I like him but Oscar is an obvious example of that fact.
