It a marketing ploy to get all college basketball fans to go the 247sports ten times a day to check the latest Crystal Ball trending to see who is winning...Kansas? Kentucky? Duke?

From what I'm hearing, Vick is better than mulder and matthews. If that's true Vick will play a huge role on next year's team. Also not getting Murray is a big blow. He's the best gaurd in the class.

2 things . we haven't NOT GOTTEN Murray . In fact if he reclassifies i bet we DO get him. ALso i can't see how anyone could say he is better then Mulder or Matthews. That ain't a bad thing though as Matthews is a great player who will play 2 years max in college. Mulder is a guy who has a shot at the pros due to his shooting and hops . Vick is the same breathe it seems like but its not like he is Brown either..

If KU and all these other top schools are interested then he could definitely help UK this coming season.

From what I have heard from a few people (Just assume I am 100% FOS if you prefer),

Cal and the staff LOVE Vick's upside. His "committable" offer is contingent to him coming aboard for 2015. This goes back to Cal not being "handcuffed" by a team. Vick will not take minutes away from Matthews, Mulder, or Murray (If he makes it), but will be a valuable player on the bench and in practice with a leg up on next years roster.

The goal is to sign 2 more players for 2015. Both are expected to be either a 2, 3, or 4 for depth purposes. Other than Murray, these last 2 will not be counted on for instant help.

As I have tried to tell you guys (and also what the staff believes) is that in Ullis, Briscoe, Hawkins, Matthews, Mulder, Poythress, Lee, Willis, and Skal, Cal has his main rotation and backups already and is fully confident that we will be one of the last few teams remaining in crunch time just like the last 4 out of 5 years.

This will be one hell of a ride this year! If Murray does not decide to come aboard (Not as big of a deal as this board makes. Cannot wait for the bashing that comment gets lol), I cannot wait to see the battle between Mulder and Matthews for the starting spot next to Ullis, Briscoe, Poy, and Skal.

This team is built for success in COLLEGE as much (or more!) as nearly every other Cal team at Memphis or UK. It will take some of you a few weeks to see it at the beginning of the season, but once you do, you will be just as excited as I currently am!

TRUST IN CAL! HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING, HAS A PLAN, AND WILL PULL IT OFF JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER YEAR!

As I have hinted multiple times: For this team, Cal is building it for success in COLLEGE instead of the NBA. Having a team full of Mickey D's did not win the title, but there is more than one way to skin a cat!

I REALLY wish I could see the looks on the negative posters faces when they see what this team is capable of and what kind of talent Matthews, Mulder, and Briscoe bring to the table!

Nice post
I was expecting UK to sign two more players. They need ten to practice. I expected two quality guys, maybe not impact freshmen but two of high enough quality to make for quality practices.

(reads like a quality post....haha)

With 247 there are about 5-8 guys that really know their stuff...their predictions mean a whole lot more than the others. 3 of those guys have picked Kentucky. Now that doesn't mean that they won't change later today. Their vote is based on what they think they know today. Tomorrow is another story. However, they still have him in the 2016 class.
Let me guess, you think that Matt Scott, Ryan Noel, and Aaron Markowitz are 3 of the 5-8 guys that really know their stuff? Haha! What a joke.

Now if he could rebound like Fitch.....that would be sweet! Fitch was a great rebounding guard!
Agreed. The most fearless rebounding guard we have had. His Freshman and Sophomore years he was relentless going after boards and ripping the ball away from post players.

I've been saying the same thing...some of these posters will take a sabbatical next season versus eating their words

Adding wings makes us look more and more like a dribble/drive team. Need 4 guys who can all spread the floor, drive, and knock down open jumpers to make it work right.

The fact that we haven't added inside bulk should be a big clue to how we will play next year.

Loved Fitch's game and wish we could have a couple of players like him on every team UK puts on the floor.

How does it help to portray this player as 'athletic' with 'upside'? So, he can run, jump and move in a coordinated manner and he has a chance to get much better.

How about his shooting, passing, dribbling and defending? Those are the things I care about.

I read a scouting report and don't know how accurate they are but it said strengths were athletic, high motor,3 point shooting, mid range shooting, slashing ability, scoring with either hand.Weakness was ball handling, upper body strength, shot mechanics and defensive rebounding.

Future 150, eh? I thought it was decent, and then I seen that they didn't list everything in the realm of defense as a weakness of Jahlil Okafor.

Thanks for that info Booker. At least gives us some idea of the type of player he is. Have to say if he has a high motor, a good shooter all over the floor and can drive it effectively he sounds intriguing. Those three things can't be taught at this point in their lives but things like defense and rebounding can be improved upon quite a bit.

LOL..."negative nancy," "debbie downer," "chicken little"...how precious.

Serious question, what would you call someone like me who said before last season started that we were the best team? Was I a good fan then? Is that erased or in doubt because someone like me (it's really me) sees glaring weaknesses in our roster for next season?

I believe the Scouthoops guy said that this kid had 5 star talent. If that means we have to wait for the 2nd year for it to happen then so be it. They can't all be superstars right away.

That's not the point. At all. Why is it so taboo to discuss the team, for better or worse, without being labeled or judged by some non-existent measurement of true fandom?

I was referencing my initial post, not saying you specifically were calling me a bad fan.

Ah forget it...back to Vick.

New era cat, I don't think Cal would expect him to be an immediate contributor. He would be more of a build for the future. Although it's been said that he improved over the last year, I believe.

I think it's fine to have someone like him on the team, but I kind of thought we already did that with Charles Matthews. The '16 is just SO FULL of great wings who can make an immediate impact...we'll see.

LOL if there was 137 players better then him he wouldn't be looking at him . He is a top 60 2016 player and a top 40 2015 supposedly . he is the kind of guy , if the scouts are correct , that has NBA potential but needs a great coach to mold him . he reminds me of the kind of guy UCONN always gets and 4 years later he is an NBAer. WHo knows if he turns out that good but we have 4 scholarships left and i think Cal wants to fil 2 of them if he can with guys who will help . depth is our only real weakness .

Really loved Fitch's game. Hard nosed, tough rebounder, clutch shooter. One of my all time favorite Cats.

We need two things. One, and the most important to really be a top team, is another big man. We have no answer if Skal gets in foul trouble. Neither Lee or Poy are centers and Lee is certainly not physical enough at that spot. The second thing we need is talented players to be able to practice 5 on 5. So, if we land this kid we still need the big man.

I disagree.

The biggest need is an elite wing that can shoot and score.

How soon everybody forgets that we had this exact talk before the 2012 season.
"Noooooooooo, we have no big interior players, we're gonna get destroyed inside, we're too weak and too small"

Result: Team destroys season block record.

No we don't. What we need are killers. Or otherwise we would have won it this year. This year's team lacked a killer instinct.
