Sorry if already discussed on the season. Why does UK football have the awful looking new UK symbol and bball still have the old? Haven't changed the court yet? Not sticking with the awful new one?

Unfortunately, the new crappy one will slowly push out the old one. Will take a few years for the complete transition.

Looks like they're phasing out the old logo. The ugly new logo is on the seats for the coaches/players but the mid court logo is still the same for now

It's on quite a few things around campus.
I agree that I'll never buy something with that hideous new logo on it.

I also won't buy anything with that logo. I wonder if they realize that they are going to lose lots of money in merchandise sales with that stupid looking logo? I can't believe Mitch would let that happen. They should have released a poll and let fans voice their opinion on it before deciding since we are the ones that put the money into merchandising sales.

Mitch needs to be fired. He should have consulted with bbn before making changes to our 30 year old logo. I don't mind the change IF ITS AN IMPROVEMENT !!! but this is a BIG step back. Who the hell does he think he is?

Won't be long before schools are changing logos every few years like they'be been doing with uniforms. As JasonS said above....merchandising. It's all about the money.

The new one is definitely less aggressive looking...I like the previous version.

Meh...people don't like change. Personally, I like it, it's very clean and graphically, looks like a more unified shape. The null space in the middle of the old logo is awkward, and I'm sorry, but there is nothing particularly unique or special or imaginative about the old UK logo.

I'm sick of the old logo, and it irks me that has become the only logo the school uses. I've said for years they need to come up with a couple of wildcat character logos. Maybe this logo change is a sign they are finally going to do something to cater to a fanbase that rabidly consumes logo merchandise.

A selection of wildcat character logo stuff would be particularly great for kids.

It's a weird K, but not a big deal to me. I'm surprised Rupp floor wasn't changed with Memorial and Commonwealth already changed. I really like the floor at Memorial with the checkerboard and font of Kentucky. Will Rupp be getting that type of treatment in the future too?

I would like to see an image of the state of KY in the middle of Rupp's floor, since UK is the commonwealth's team.

I have previously made my own feelings known about this change--radical, cartoonish, and somewhat childlike that it is. Just imagine this: what do you think would happen if the same thing were done to Yankees fans? What if the famous NY logo were suddenly tweaked in the middle of the night with no warning and no justification? People in NY would be slitting their wrists. It was absolutely STUPID beyond belief that any person in our athletics department would change our long-time interlocking logo. UK has not had that logo for long; however, it was a design almost universally well-liked and has become a lasting trademark of our school and athletics programs. This is another example of someone thinking a bit too much and too little at the same time. To not consult with BBN is more than an insult--it's tacky and just bad form. The new logo: drop the damn thing, it looks cartoonish, and no, you do not make a "K" this way. Get rid of it now before it's too late.

Who is old enough to remember when this logo needed to be changed and why?
If you can't figure out why there was an outcry and this had to be changed look at the tongue and only the tongue. Some people have too much time on their hands.
