Am I missing something with the Cheats roster? They have 1 top 50 portal get, one five star, lost the programs 4th all time leading scorer, and by far their most talented freshman…
I'm not afraid of them either. I am just saying that they have picked up some solid guys in the portal and that a good class is coming in. They keep Powell, and their 3-5 is way better than last year. The problem is going to be their questions in the backcourt. Will Trimble make the leap, and how good is the CSU PG they picked up?
Let’s wait until roster are set before predictions are made. There is still a ton of movement left to go. They add some pieces but lost a ton also. Plus Powell could still be declaring for the draft as a mid first round pick. I have a feeling Duke’s roster will be better when all the dominoes fall.

I agree as of right now. They’ve picked up some pretty good talent but nothing that moves the needle in my opinion.
Davis I know he had a down year overall last season but he’ll be very hard to replace.
Ian Jackson is better than anyone they added, that’s a big loss also

Who have they really brought in though? Mostly role players and I don’t believe Powell has made a decision yet. Trimble was not as good as Davis or Cadeau. What makes them better than last year? New coach?
Agreed here. Nothing about their roster screams final four threat, let alone top 25.
As the roster sits today, they MIGHT be a 8-9 seed team. Nothing they’ve done makes them a legit threat. Plus, their head coach is well….
The power forward freshman they have coming in can play two way ball. They have two combo guards coming in and Trimble can guard . From all reports Powell is returning and he will be a good defender for them . They have the Arizona big coming in all they need for him to do is rebound and defend . They got Lubin off the bench who can rebound and defend and added two decent shooters and now the Alabama or Oklahoma ( can’t remember) SF/Pf that can defend that’s from the state of NC .
While the only thing at the moment any one knows for sure who is returning to Duke is Harris and four freshmen. Haven’t heard anything on Brown, Proctor, Foster, Evans or big Pat. So at the moment Duke is looking like an entire team of freshmen and one sophomore until anything is announced . I tend not to look down on my rival until I know exactly who’s on my team.
Last I checked they are bringing in one five star combo and one four star combo guard, an upperclassmen pg who can shoot, an upperclassman sg who can shoot and defend . I’m not worried about their offense it’s how much better they get on defense. Houston showed us you don’t need to score 100 to win just simply stop the other team .
Again I’m not worried about the Holes, Duke will have a better roster at the end of all of this movement.
Hubert Davis has averaged 11.25 losses per season while at the helm for unc

I do think it's important to note that Hubert's best season as a head coach was the 23-24 season and they lost 8 games. So, I don't think it's crazy at all to expect at least 8 loses. That team had RJ Davis, Bacot, Harrison Ingram, Cormac Ryan and Cadeau. That's the best team Hubert has put on the floor and still almost lost 10 games.
Of course it is, I hope no one is debating that. However, they lose all of their best 3 point shooters, Davis, Cadeau, Jackson and Withers. I'm not sure if their portal additions have made them a better 3 point shooting team, so we'll see.
That said, as I mention above, the best team Hubert has ever had, still lost 8 games.
Hubert is a lot like Roy in his fondness for the "No Shot Clock Necessary" offense. Right now I don't see that component in next year's offense.

I feel like we have this discussion every year about UNC. I fully expect them to be very good until I see they aren’t.
I hope they are very good and Duke beats them 3 times again next season.

No . I live in NC. I know every time they get someone , loose someone simply because the amount of tarhole fans I’m around . If I didn’t know better I’d say Davis is learning from Scheyer’s success. Going older and bigger . Also committing more to the defensive end . I’m not saying they go all the way but they will be improved .
I learned on day 2 here saying anything remotely positive about them was like sticking your bloody hand in piranha infested waters.
I have never seen a UNC fan complement a Duke player let alone a Duke team. UNC could be the best thing since sliced bread and I wouldn’t give a f**k.
I can’t say the same . I work with ten UNC fans and the ones that really know the college game are very level headed. We talk college ball all the time . Now the other half, they don’t say squat to me . Unless they want stats thrown there way .
I've known fewer than five level-headed fans living in NC all my life, two of whom are my brothers and one my best friend. All three were apologetic after the Houston loss and genuinely know ball.
