Will now be the favorite to be the BE champs again. What a lineup and Hines now has a really great group of really talented kids to play with!

Blue Devils freshman Nikolas Khamenia committed to the Huskies. The 6-foot-8 forward was ranked No. 15 in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports. At Duke, he played 38 games off the bench, averaging 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 41.7% from three-point range during a three-game ACC Tournament stretch in which he averaged 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds after increased minutes due to injuries to Caleb Foster and Patrick Ngongba II.

With Mullins and Khamenia expected to start, UConn is projected as a preseason top-five team. All-Big East guard Silas Demary Jr. has also confirmed his return, while Solo Ball may return as well. The Huskies additionally added Seton Hall transfer Najai Hines to help replace Tarris Reed Jr. and Eric Reibe.

Have to think they will be on a mission again to win both the regular season and BE tourney titles. Uconn fans can say all they want that they don't care about that stuff, but that is nonsense. They clearly do and so does their program. They will be out for blood to dethrone SJU after their back to back league titles and tourney titles.

I wonder if Ball will still get paid.
Not sure if that works. Also a year away is a long, long time. I'm sure the intention is for him to return to Uconn, but who knows what happens between now and then.

They are loaded regardless. I'm sure they aren't done in the portal when it comes to the guard position, but Demary is probably going to be on a preseason all league team, Mullins can play the 2 and Ross can play the 3, with the foreign kid in the Karaban role and Hines in the Reed role.

Where does this money come from?
Move afoot in the CT legislature to publicy list players' "salaries." Point is that since UCONN is a state school, all employees' incomes are part of the public record. We know what Hurley, Geno, assistants, professors, its president all make. I'd imagine the university would fight this vigorously.

Isn’t there all sorts of creative financial accounting with this stuff, ie, Hurley only gets paid “x” by the university (which is what would be lists) but gets a ton more to that annually from other sources

But they're not employees :)
The university asked legistators for additional money to pay athletes so UCONN could remain competitive. Some lawmakers said if that is the case, they and taxpayers should see what players are making. Wish we could do something like that... in the name of transparency. Our taxpayers are constantly approached donors. (UCONN is balking at this.)

I don't see Khameni starting over Ross. Ross hesitated about coming back. He didn't retrun to sit behind an incoming sophomre.
