And with Bouknight and Akok not appearing ready to return to action, this is getting concerning:
Schedule suggests 4-3 the rest of the way and a 12-8 finish to the season. Barring major damage being done in Big East tourney, as in winning it, that spells an NIT bid. It's another one of those tough injury plus disappointing production seasons.

It was a step in the right direction. To me Xavier looked a little soft defensively. Not sure how this win will look at the end of the year and UConn needs to keep winning. There are only 6 games left and 4-2 is the absolute minimum needed and not sure if that will do without BE tourney wins as well.

In CBS's updated bracketology, UConn is back in the NCAA Tournament as a 9 seed meeting 8 seed Louisville in the opening road. This is some evidence that the win at Xavier essentially cancelled or extinguished the loss at PC, but staying inside the bracket may require a win tonight at home against PC, or the road loss does not remain cancelled:

Still low 50's in the NET rankings even after the Nova loss, KenPom still likes Uconn at #34.... Can't figure out some of the NET rankings though, Colgate who's played nobody( zero in quad 1, two in Quad 2) at #13 ???....."If" Uconn can take care of G-town & Marquette, could play out vs. Seton Hall (NET #49), if the BE is a 4 bid conference. ( outside of what happens @ MSG)

I think UConn needs a minimum of 4 more wins between regular season and Big East tournament. This would be to get a 9 or 10 seed.

FWIW, Fox Sports show the BE as a 5 bid league, still have alot work to do....
p.s. ..notice the conference with no multi bids ?...maybe they ought to let Navy in as a full member.

I see Uconn got more of a bump in the NCAA's NET than I thought they would by beating G-town... from #55 to #46....#trending up

The Big East is likely a 4 bid league, which simply means that UConn's win at Xavier is bigger than was realized at the time it occurred. Xavier could end up being out because of that loss. Depends on what they do the rest of the way but they need a hump win.

How is Seton Hall lower than us? Is it that they played an extra 5 games and went 2-3 for them? What is the first column after conference W/L?

If UConn beats Marquette on Saturday, they leapfrog Seton Hall by percentage points for 3rd place in the Big East and if the positions then hold, it will be Seton Hall fighting with Xavier for the last conference bid, depending on what happens in the Big East tournament.

Gavin takes a shot at it: "Let's take a look at where each of the five Big East teams stand prior to Wednesday's action "

Current numbers from the NET (Uconn #28 in KENPOM) and Xavier got a decent bump from the Creighton win......2 down and 2 to go, take care of business on Wed and that may lock in 3 BE teams for the NCAA's even before MSG.

To the new drive-by posters, thanks for the support and web clicks, if you get a chance sign-up for your daily look at Husky news from former Uconn beat writers John Silver & Zac Boyer ( a past publisher of this Rivals site)

Delivered early each morning to your email inbox!

The Story: The NCAA Tournament will pick 72 teams this year, with four teams in reserve just in case COVID-19 takes out a team prior to the tourney. How can the James Bouknight-led Huskies avoid being one of those four? Winning tomorrow against Marquette at 2:30 p.m. is a good start.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: With only three games left, there is no margin for error. UConn is 11-6, 41 in the NET Rankings and 32 in KenPom rating. That puts UConn likely in the NCAA Tournament at this juncture, but one loss can really knock it down, making any slip up against Marquette unpalatable. And, just so you know, the Golden Eagles are dangerous. Sure, they’re 11-12, but they had an 18-point lead against UConn earlier in the year (and lost thanks to Tyler Polley) and on Wednesday went down to North Carolina and slapped the Tar Heels around. Anytime a team can slap one of those Tobacco Road teams around, we are pretty happy about it.............more

Nova only drops 3 spots after the loss to Butler yesterday, big Quad 1 opportunity for Uconn on Wednesday.

Seton Hall has to have the game tonight is what this tells me. They also have a Game at St. John's and I would think a split of those 2 games is the absolute minimum although they would get more NET juice from a win tonight.

Nope, see the chart above...a win tonight is only a Quad 2 for SH ...(home win vs. #31-75) .....an away win on SAT (away vs. #1-75 ) would be a Quad 1 result......BTW for Uconn, tonight is a Quad 1 ....Sat vs. G-town is a Quad 3.

OK- still having trouble getting used to the Quads. To me with no fans home/road is not much of a difference

You'd think, but it seems like it's still a big difference to Nova, Xavier and St. Johns though. Let's hope it's not to Seton Hall tonight, with limited fans.
