They look very very good, just destroying USC right now.
next Saturday won’t be a lot of fun for the hawks I’m afraid.

Can Ava stay out of foul trouble? Must also hit free throws and not go on long scoreless streaks. They are loaded and athletic but I'd rather play the best over another cupcake...it can only help us with the B1G season.UConn beats USC 79-51
can the hawks stay within 20 points?

Those are two big “if’s”I think we match up pretty well with them as long as we can stay out of foul trouble and take care of the ball,
30+...what year?Iowa State men's team beat #1 Purdue at Purdue by 30+。Can Iowa men's team stay within 40 in Ames?
That's what most people thought before the Iowa men's game @ ISU, a game Iowa would have won if they'd gotten anything close to a fair shake from the stripes. So let's let 'em play and see what happens . . . And hope that, for once, Iowa gets at least a fair shake from the whistles. They look very very good, just destroying USC right now.

Can Ava stay out of foul trouble? Ask the refs. Ava picks up ticky-tack "fouls" that are ignored from other players. We all know basketball refs have a huge impact on basketball games, so much so that the game is often almost impossible to watch. Call it the same on both ends, and let's see how it goes. Can Ava stay out of foul trouble? Must also hit free throws and not go on long scoreless streaks. By "aggressive defense" I imagine you mean they bump and grab and hack all over the floor like ISU and many other teams, and they get away with it. And then Iowa looks at a UConn player sideways and, boom, FOUL! Just like what happened to the men in Ames. It's all BS.Watched a few minutes of the game and UConn plays agressive defense. They go at least 10 deep. Fudd and Strong will be a matchup issue for the Hawks.
I think UConn is at a different level than most teams. Girls better be ready.
My guess would be 15+, even though on a neutral site. UCONN team might be one of Geno's best. What do you think the point spread will be on this one?
This is what I was thinking earlier in the year, but now it seems, the women and mens games, are much more physical with a lot less being called than in the past.By "aggressive defense" I imagine you mean they bump and grab and hack all over the floor like ISU and many other teams, and they get away with it. Can Iowa ever get a game that's called anywhere close to fair? That's the only question I have.
It’s aggressive if it favors the other team, not us. This is the trend. This is what I was thinking earlier in the year, but now it seems, the women and mens games, are much more physical with a lot less being called than in the past.
She has gotten some crap calls but she needs to stay vertical instead of always reaching over a shorter player. Reminds me at times of Addy O'Grady when she does that. Can Ava stay out of foul trouble? Ask the refs. Ava picks up ticky-tack "fouls" that are ignored from other players. Really? Thats what many said about Gable's grapplers. Should they have put rules in place against his dynasty? Because many people actually called for that, and look where things are now.No school should be this dominate in any sport. This is why we need rules and regulations otherwise greed ruins the sport.
Geno will be working the refs from the jump and JJ will just stand there and take it. He is royalty like Izzo and the calls will be very lopsided. Can Ava stay out of foul trouble? Ask the refs. So status quo since forever.I think the bigger issue, and it’s disheartening, is the gap between UCONN/South Caroline/Texas type programs and that next tier like Iowa and Iowa State and so on.
JJ has recruited well but unless she can stockpile more talent and create depth of talent then those programs will be impossible to beat. Unless you get another CC.
That's one of the keys to creating the dynasties these two coaches have: play 8 on 5. It makes things a helluva lot easier. I'd love to see just ONE game where an Iowa team, say, shoots 25 FTs and the other team shoots 5 and see how it goes.Geno will be working the refs from the jump and JJ will just stand there and take it. So, did we not just beat UConn in the final 4 two years ago? Until last season it had been awhile since Uconn had won the title. So status quo since forever.
Sure Iowa beat them, with a once in a multiple generation talent. But the traditional powers of the last 20 years (South Carolina/UConn/Notre Dame/Baylor) haven't really changed. Hence my reply about status quo. And UConn was only not in the Final 4 one season since their last title in 2016. A huge disappointment for them I'm sure but that's a hell of streak. So, did we not just beat UConn in the final 4 two years ago? Until last season it had been awhile since Uconn had won the title.

All true statements. Sounds a lot like college football, $$$$$$$$. And Uconn will certainly be putting what money they have to both mens and womens basketball, since their football program is a joke.Sure Iowa beat them, with a once in a multiple generation talent. Making those free throws is critical IMO.That's one of the keys to creating the dynasties these two coaches have: play 8 on 5. It makes things a helluva lot easier. I'd love to see just ONE game where an Iowa team, say, shoots 25 FTs and the other team shoots 5 and see how it goes.
Absolutely, but you can't make 'em if you don't get to shoot 'em. Hannah, especially, needs to start hitting at the line. She was improving the last couple of years, but so far she seems to have regressed at the line. Now's the time to focus and hit those free ones.Making those free throws is critical IMO.
I'm pretty sure Jan is going to Brooklyn to win, and I'm pretty sure she's giving her team a very different message than the one she's giving the public. Over-effusive public praise for an upcoming opponent makes sense to me. Build 'em up, then beat 'em. At least I think it's a sound strategy.Good Lord, I am a big fan of coach J but at the Tuesday press confidence her praise of U Conn was such that I almost lost any hope that the Hawkeyes can avoid complete destruction. Also, her comment that Emely is “at this time” on the team is not encouraging.
yeah but in think Michigan is alot better than our hawksMichigan kept it tight against them.
Here is how Iowa women’s basketball fans will remember program history (before CC, CC era and after CC). We beat Unconn during the CC era and never again will that happen as long they keep their donors. Mark it down. So, did we not just beat UConn in the final 4 two years ago? Until last season it had been awhile since Uconn had won the title.
