I have heard from a good source that he cleaned his locker out over the weekend and quit.

He didn't graduate from UCLA.
He is not eligible to play as a graduate transfer.
This is the only reason he can't play at WVU.
If he signed his letter of intent to transfer he would be forced to sit out.

Don't know if he is taking classes this summer to play later on.
I believe all UC's use the quarter system.

He could be eligible next month if he is.
His twitter account is hidden but he is still in WVU gear on his pic.

UCLA graduate transfer Denzel Fisher has not signed his letter of intent and is not expected in camp, a WVU spokesperson confirmed on Monday. It was reported by 247Sports that WVU was aware that Fisher had work to do to complete the necessary classwork and was continuing to recruit corners, including another graduate transfer, Notre Dame’s Nick Watkins, who wound up at Houston.

Per Casazza, Fisher’s inability to take the field for WVU this coming season stems from unspecified academic issues. And, as it turns out, it’s not exactly a shock to the football program.

This is hardly a surprise to WVU, which had been tracking Fisher’s academics over the summer and knew this was a possible outcome.

Whether Fisher ever signs with and plays for WVU remains to be seen.

Why does this sound like a Tevita Finau 2.0

No not really. He couldn't get the grades to leave JC. Fisher at least made it to UCLA. Finau finally got it done signing with Utah, when they were MWC team. Then had one season in the PAC 12

There are some incredibly talented athletes all across this county who clearly have the potential to play for Division-I football programs. Yet despite their talent, they often fail to do the work or meet the minimum requirements for eligibility.

And when it comes right down to it, the blame for their failure is solely the responsibility of the student-athletes, not the institutions that recruited them!

Former Mountaineer, Jason Gwaltney. Unlike Finau and Fisher, Gwaltney actually made his way to Morgantown and won his spot on the field.

However, Gwaltney’s obvious talents were squandered in his failure to meet his requirements on and off the field. And in that way, the situations with Fisher, Finau and Gwaltney are quite similar.

Ultimately, they failed to live up to the hype!

What are you talking about
Fisher has the grades to play but is not eligible to play for WVU until he graduates

Don't know why he wasn't able to graduate but supposedly WVU knew beforehand that Fisher may not be eligible to be a grad transfer

Thanks for the update. But do you have to be so theatrical about it? A simple explanation of he actually had grades and signed but did not graduate.

Why all the comparison to Tevita Finau? It should not be done as these obviously are 2 different situations.

It should be common knowledge that he was supposed to be a grad transfer

As a grad transfer the student must graduate to be eligible.
He could be finishing his coursework.
Research the UCLA academic schedule.

I think what was reported was that Fisher could still be a possibility to play this year.

I don't see him coming here. I don't think it's going to happen.

Finau's sailing canoe broke up off Mexico in a typhoon on his way down to lock through the Panama Canal. Everyone knows that. He got a ride on fishing boat to the mouth of the Colorado, where he was kidnapped by Mormons to play football for them. It's a sad tale.

Gwaltney had a severe case of "Feces Non Stinkus". He had to go home to recover. Rich had bad case of it too, as a coach. He's never recovered. There are speculations it may be fatal to both Rich and the Hair Club For Men.

Fisher is a prime example of the Common American Boneheaded Jock. High school, college, and pro sports overrun with them. There's one in every bar talking about something along the lines of, "Do you guys remember when I scored four touchdowns for Polk High?"

Pratt, I broke a rib tripping over my wife's old cat in the dark earlier this summer. I went flying down the steps head first and managed to turn to avoid cracking my head open, landing on my side. I was telling the doc in ER what happened and said, "Luckily, I played high school football and knew how to land." He lost it. The nurse who was about 20-21, had no idea what we were laughing about

Young people don't know about the classics. I'm 37 years old and I lived for Saturday morning cartoons on ABC, mixing bowls filled with Cap'n Crunch and getting your *** kicked because you just went thru a half gallon of milk....
