This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 2005 Sun Bowl which was the highest scoring bowl game in NU (or Sun Bowl) history. In that game, UCLA came back from a 22-0 deficit in the 1st quarter to win 50-38, largely behind a tandem of running backs. It was also Randy Walker's last game. The teams are 3-3, all time.

This first rematch since that Sun Bowl will be Saturday in NU's early autumn lakeside home. This time, the Bruins don't look likely to win on the ground. Their running game has been weak and the NU run defense solid. If the Cats can avoid turnovers, they should be able to run effectively on UCLA's bottom-dwelling run defense.

This might be the Cats' best chance for a dominating win in the B1G this season.

I attended the 2005 Sun Bowl in El Paso. 2 Back-to-back kickoff returns by the Bruins
late in the game killed the Cats comeback.
I wonder how many times that has happened in college football before. It was a crazy game.

Cats won’t be Bruined again in this game.

I’m hoping we win and can have some offense but so many unknowns. Hard to fathom how far the Bruins football program has fallen.

The new Bruins coaching staff will make the team look very different especially on D. I'm afraid Lujan won't be able to make adjustments because he hasn't so far. NU's D may be able to shut the Bruins and score off a turnover.

Keep their QB from running the ball and limit our turnovers and we should be in good shape. Time for Stone to step up and earn his money. When we have a chance to make a big play make- it.
