the lob? Then tacko fall fouling zion (even though all season that call is made against zion). I mean let him have the bucket you get it back and stay ahead. Probably a deal between rat and Dawkins to win dramatically. That was monumental choke job

tacko, not fast enough to move out of the way

The Missed lob was killer. The player who made the pass should have given up the ball so much earlier for the easy layup
Or just pulled it out and took the clock down to a minute and let Dawkins take a shot.

Worse case, 1 minute left and up 4

Or up 6-7 w a minute left.

I don't blame Taco on the foul, but if you are going to foul at the rim you don't let them score, you make them earn the points one shot at a time from the line.

Duke really seems to be living on the edge lately. They have had an inordinate amount of good luck lately. I keep waiting for that to balance out, and I thought last night was finally the time. No dice.

I'm worried it may never happen. That game really did a number on UK fans last night. In the office this morning, there's as much talk about it as if we had lost.

UCF had a decent look at the end to win it

The driving player was fouled on the initial shot, but yes, they did have a decent put back attempt that they should have made. Still, they were fouled and that has to be called as well.

exactly...........all they had to do was grab the rebound on the missed free throw

A little hard to do when Duke player has a hook and hold on UCF player and keeps him held while pushing him under the basket to clear the way for the easy put back. We have had the hook and hold flagerant called on us a few times this year that looked nowhere near as obvious as that one. Yeah UCF had chances to seal the game (no lob, no foul after Zion charged with no call) but Duke was handed that win plain and simple.

I know we all hate Duke with a passion so sometimes it's a little easy to put blinders on or read into stuff too much but that ending whether you are a UK fan or not was complete BS and totally in Dukes favor. I mean how can Zion get a charge called 2 possesions prior that was nowhere near as hard of a hit and they let that one slide.

There was nothing wrong with the lob. Barkley was out of line for calling that out.

A lob was a smartest and easiest pass to make in that situation. And the pass was there, delivered perfectly, that play would've been finished 90 percent of the time, this just happened to be the rare instance where the receiver muffed it. **** happens.

I had no problem with the lob, they were playing to win and he had it. You can say pull it out, then Duke would foul Tacko (36% FT shooter) and you basically turn it over anyway.

They shouldn't have needed it.
You’re right. They should’ve executed the lob to put them up 6 with 80 seconds to go. Instead it turns into a 5 point swing and that was the ball game. Should they have called the charge on Zion? Yeah... Could they have called the push in the back on Barrett? Probably... Hook and hold on the free throw? Maybe... Fact of the matter is that they never should’ve put it in the refs hands. Control your own fate and they didn’t. They did not execute the plays down the stretch that would’ve guaranteed a win. There were 4 plays in the last 90 seconds they could’ve made and they failed on all 4. Yes the refs suck and they were going to let them play that one out no matter what, but the people that fail to see that it is UCF’s fault is just getting riled up over nothing.

Missing a shot is part of the game. Swallowing the whistle 4 times in a row to keep Duke's *** in business is corruption.

Refs are part of the game too. We all know we play with double standards. Johnny and Aubrey Dawkins should know that better than anyone. Missing shots are definitely part of the game. Miss enough of them and you generally lose. The calls are not what is going to be going through Aubrey Dawkins head the rest of his life. It will be the blown alley oop attempt and the tip that rolled out. If he goes for 34 instead of 32, they win. If Tacko Fall does whatever he can to knock the ball out of Zions hands when he fouled him instead of letting him get an And-1, they win. If they block out on the free throw attempt and grab the rebound, they win, if they execute the alley oop or the tip in, they win. I can promise you that UCF isn’t playing the victim card. They played a great game and had the right defensive game plan for Duke. Hopefully laying out the blueprints to beat them. They just didn’t execute enough plays down the stretch to win that game.

Expecting a fairly called game isn't "playing the victim card". Again, missed shots are part of the game, because they result from the actions of PLAYERS. Calls were missed both ways for the majority of the game, and that's ok as long as it's honest. But when k's fat needed to be pulled from the fire, you could bet the farm how it was going down. Duke was allowed to charge, push, hold and bump to get the win, all in the space of 15 seconds. Couple that with the nauseating wall to wall coverage they get and it stinks to high heaven. The media, ratings and corruption are ruining the integrity of the game, and fans are tiring of it.

Nobody has mentioned this but you HAVE to know as a player or coach if you think there has been a hook & hold to ask for a review and the refs have always granted that request this year. I hate Grant Williams with a passion but there is no chance he wouldn’t have gotten that flagrant called on Delaurier by demanding a review of the play. It was on the other end of the floor from the coaching staff so there view may have been obstructed but that player HAS to ask for a review.

I agree, very odd that it wasn't reviewed.
