omg player abuse. my this world is getting weakI've always wondered about those kinds of backs. To me i when you see 50+ carries, it almost, vaguely, smacked of something approaching player abuse. I loved the way this kid approached the game. Tough kid, tough expression, just a joy to watch.
Pretty easy to talk... from the bleachers.omg player abuse. my this world is getting weak
Game 1 of the year, and I could see your point about 55 carries being excessive. Last game of the year, it's anything that needs to be done.I've always wondered about those kinds of backs. Nope, you're exactly right.Game 1 of the year, and I could see your point about 55 carries being excessive. Last game of the year, it's anything that needs to be done.
VanHousen averaged 23.23 carries a game his senior year. 31 carries in the semi's and 17 in the finals. He did have 44 in the quarterfinals.Funny, beings High Plains ran VanHousen right into a season ending injury in the championship game.
But I’m sure that was different.
Denkert averaged 24.62 this yearVanHousen averaged 23.23 carries a game his senior year. 31 carries in the semi's and 17 in the finals. He did have 44 in the quarterfinals.
agree it was weak attempt at best very poor comment by a jealous personDenkert averaged 24.62 this year
So i guess no player abuse in either case!
Some of you bleacher hero's have reading comprehension issues.![]()
i think he is back tracking fast
you said you loved his approach, toughness, and was a joy to watch? Agree!
then followed up by taking a shot at their coaching staff(don’t deny it) by calling it borderline player abuse? Are we right?
Which ironically was the same thing VanHousen (your player) did with a lot of carries post season playoff run. And got hurt in final game, which limited carries in championship
but thanks to Mike, we can now all agree that neither case was player abuse!
help us young fan boys understand more clearly…
Loli think he is back tracking fast
I'll try...once. After that you can rage with yourself all you want if you can't comprehend. First, I didn't take any shots at any coaching staff, and what you, quite wrongly, perceived as a "shot" was actually the FIRST thing in the post. Read it again. Apparently you either missed "always wondered about", "vaguely", "smacked of", and "almost", or simply don't know what they mean or how they are used in conversation. In case reading my post again doesn't help, I'll try, one last time to explain it to you. This is the first time I've ever SEEN a kid get 50+ carries. I think I watched a Wisconsin back...Dayne?...dunno, go like 46 or something. Certainly I've heard of them. Again, my initial reaction has always been..."yeesh". And knowing that, that level of punishment is quite detrimental to the human body long term, especially repetitive collisions on a developing body, had uneasiness about it. As Llama pointed out though, last game of the season does make some difference in the reasoning. Maybe not fair to the kid, but if the team needs it... Watching Denkert and his approach was inspiring. Good for him? Probably not. Certainly not as rule of thumb and not healthy long term, but I don't think you could have gotten him off the field with wild horses. His team needed him and he provided. I don't know how many carries is your max. Mine was 29, and I didn't move close to right until Thursday. So...no shots, no accusations, nothing like what you are fabricating.

Finally that is something we can, mostly, agree on!Lol
I would actually argue it’s not the number of carries that matters in the first place.
It’s the type of blows a kid takes by the opponents and the quality of defenses plus the physicality of the back & ability to take or deliver hits.
well Doctor, medical trainer expert and body physics expert or millennial or expert running backs coach whatever you want to be called or claim you know- I will have to disagree with you and your vast experience in this situation. You sound like the guy that would love a limit on what a kid can and can not do, like a 30 carries only and after that you can not run the ball again, A socialism guy and one size fits all a man This is just my opinion of what I have read of you and you are entitled to your opinion, I just strongly disagreeI'll try...once. "My Player"? WTF are you talking about? I have zero clue who Van Heusen is. Don't really care. Maybe along with reading comprehension you can work on making assinine assumptions while you're at it?
I'm sorry I brought on today's perpetual pissing matchWell this thread took a nose dive.
lol oh well is was fun. no hard feeling HP dudeI'm sorry I brought on today's perpetual pissing match
I don't know about player abuse or not. I do agree that 50 carries is a lot.I'll try...once. After that you can rage with yourself all you want if you can't comprehend. Good for him Glad he had a great season Can the crying please stop, I dont care if he gets 60 carries My this is an unreal conversation for football and unreal how soft we are gettingHe had over 50 carries vs FSCH in the 2nd round of the playoffs
I agree. At 17 years old I'd be begging for the ball every play if that what was needed to win the game. They obviously didn't do it every game because their other backs had some good stats too. It wasn't a one man show all season, just when they absolutely needed it they leaned on the QB. I'm betting Denkert didn't have any issue with it. Made the reward that much sweeter...Counting the PAT's and penalties I'm guessing he had over 60 carries. The kid is a stud and was still finishing runs in the 4th quarter.Good for him Glad he had a great season Can the crying please stop, I dont care if he gets 60 carries My this is an unreal conversation for football and unreal how soft we are getting
I don't feel like FastEddie was crying. It was just a statement of fact. I get what you are saying, but there was no opinion sneakily injected in his comment.Good for him Glad he had a great season Can the crying please stop, I dont care if he gets 60 carries My this is an unreal conversation for football and unreal how soft we are getting
