Like our chances at getting him out of the portal from San Francisco. Almost came last year before going back to SF. Talked about how he thinks he would fit great in Popes system and has had a good relationship with him since high school. Thoughts?

He's OK. Has decent talent and potential. Didnt move the needle in the WCC, so he'll need to take a major leap to produce at UK. Decent bench piece - get him if he will come cheap.

i think it all depends on (1) if we land stokes and (2) how pope plans to use him.
lots of comparisons to cade cunningham. so if put the ball into stokes hand as a play maker, do you surround him with williams and riley to make shots and finish plays?
or
do you play him as an undersized PF and would still need a PG and SF to go with williams.

I actually believe we are in good shape to have a more competitive squad next season. We will have the full picture in 2 weeks or so but I believe most will be surprised on how good we do once the portal opens. We have a good chance at way too many top available options, its all about which ones we end up with for me but we should end up preseason top 10 and Popes best team yet. Of course that happens and it practically ensure Pope finishes his contract before we get to move on but that is what I see happening.

We don't have any starters signed from where I'm standing. Maybe Chandler, but he better be the 5th best player.
Chandler should be a 4th-6th man, not a top 3 guy. But we do need good 6th-9th guys (& solid 10th-12th).
But the first guys we bring in don't have to be, probably won't be, the Top 3 that we need & will add.
Malachi Moreno would be one of the top center prospects in the portal if he were to enter.

In all likelihood, we will rely on a player who was good to very good taking a leap. Hopefully we can find the players primed to make the jump.

Self is not retiring so fans can let go of the Stokes pipe dream this is just another example of low level talent being recruited because top talent will not agree to play for Pope we are screwed until he is gone !!

Yeah, average is 12 points a game and a crappy conference that’s not Oweh who could bully his way to the basket he just in total if it weren’t for Oweh we don’t make the tournament the last two years.
