Tyler Ulis needs to be the next assistant

not sure on recruiting, but i bet he’d be a heck of a coach.
I love Ulis. He is one of my 5 favorite Cats the past 40 years.
But no coaching or recruiting experience, AND players wouldn't know who he is like Rondo.
But I would like to see him in some capacity join.

Why do we think just because we love a player's game, that means they can automatically be a coach? For all we know, Ryan Harrow is the best coach in waiting.

Ulis seems like a great guy, lots of knowledge. That’s said, I’m not sure UK is the right place for him to jump. We have a small fan segment of hateful, ungrateful jerks that will stab him in the back for not kissing their feet. We’d be better off with someone that will put that disgusting bunch in their place similar to Cal. Rondo would work but not sure his personality will align with the rest of the staff.
Kentucky never needs a first time coach on our assistant coaching staff.
Think its just about seeing a guy play and knowing they understand the nuances of the game. Cant name many former cats w higher IQ for the game than Tyler or Rondo.
Love Ulis but the guy has no NBA career. A guy like a rondo would be more idea due to his NBA career. I mean, would kids even know who Ulis is?

Macy was a prototypical, intelligent, savvy, knowledgeable, PG, He was a God awful coach

Ulis has very little life experience. He wouldn’t be ready to be a HC for another 10 years at least. Maturity matters in coaching. This isn’t the right time for ulis unless they invented some sort of grad ast spot for him. Ulis isn’t ready
I would be all in on Cal hiring him in some capacity to learn all the nuisances he would need to become an assistant later on. Kentucky isn't the type program that hires a first time inexperienced assistant coach.
I noticed that Knight, Calapri K, Williams, Wooden, Self, none were great players, mostly small schools or never got off the bench
It's that dubya c dubya guy. I gather he went by baller cal as well. I've seen him banned and come back at least 10 times since I've been here. Seems like a head case.
Do you think Tyler or Rondo would be a good option as our last coach? Not that itd happen, just hypothetically. Personally i think Rondo would from a basketball knowledge standpoint, not that his personality would vibe with Cal
I couldn't say. I said for years that one day Kyle Macy will be a really good coach, it takes a whole lot more than x and o knowledge
Not sure about Harrow. I seem to remember he often missed games with flu like symptoms.
I'd love to see that competitive little bulldog back on UK's bench...(not that he spent a lot of time on the bench while he was here)

The current Loisville head coach admitted, he coached the defense and Ulis coached the offense in South Carolina win that Cal was kicked out of.
It's the third assistant. We have 3 over qualified assistants on staff plus a hall of famer already. I don't know if Tyler or rondo can coach. But not sure it's a stretch to drop them in and they ramp up that quick. Billy Donovan first gig was here.

You must be referring to your thread about Wheeler being the equivalent of Harrow that had to be deleted because you got laughed at so bad that it was hard to watch. It got so bad that you gave up and ran away to the paddock. [laughing]

Dumbest name I used to always here U of L fans use was “Mildcats”. Heard it often.
Good story. He’d be a heck of a lot better than Reggie Hanson who Tubby brought on.
