Don't know what the knee injury was, but realistically if its a ACL or other 6-8 month deal, then I think a redshirt is a possibility. I know they get people back pretty quick, but seems like a wide receiver puts a lot of strain on the knee - particularly a lanky WR who makes cuts at high speed. And 6-8 months is 6-8 months before he'd be cleared to start working again - not meaning 6-8 months to be back to full strength. Great get either way if it happens, and not saying he can't be on the field next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he needs another year given what he would miss out on over the summer while getting back to full strength. (of course, timing of the injury impacts that - Sept injury vs. November).
Much like DPE, let's not try to lock him into one thing or another. Let him heal up and get on campus and see how he's doing. He'll know as well as anyone if his knee is right and if he's ready to start shaking fools in the open field. If he's ready, get him out there.
Just goes to show how fun recruiting is. 4 days ago at the Army All American Game he was 100 percent committed to Ohio State and couldn't wait to get up there.
Torn Meniscus. Happened week before Halloween. They said he could have probably played again this year but they wanted him to just take it easy and make sure it heals for college.
This is GREAT news! I had really always hoped we'd land him, after watching him go up against Darnay Holmes at a camp (he won 2/3 attempts against Holmes covering him in the clip I saw, then did a full front flip).

So why do our jet sweeps gain -5 to 5 yards every time and Wisconsins gain 10 to 80 every time?
Are we not blocking it correctly?
Are we not running it the same way as UW?
It just seems like that play doesn't work for us as well as it does for some other teams.
This is THE guy. Period. Get him and I'm good on WRs coupled with KJJ and McQuitty. One more would be gravy.
I think that is an offensive line issue; Wiscy has recruited huge hogs to their line, and our line play has been spotty. Also, in my understanding of the mechanics of the play, Jet Sweeps are kind of like the Option, in that they're very feast or famine. You may get a yard, or you may get 15.
Yeah I totally agree! McQuitty is just about 6 feet tall, and Johnson is 6'1", so Lindsey would be our freak of nature slot guy, am I right? Also a kick returner and Jet Sweep dude?
Just so people understand the impact of this commit if it were to happen. A commit from Tyjon would move us to 21 on the 247 class rankings, up 12 spots; and 26 on the rivals rankings, also up 12 spots.
Question is who he is mad at? Lindsey for opening his recruitment or possibly OSU if they pulled the offer?
And we still have 7 spots to fill! I think we can land a top 15 class BABYYYYYYYY...
Why are people thinking OSU pulled his offer? Theres no reason for them to do that. His injury wasn't that serious and he's one of the best receivers in the nation.
Pulling Tyjon, Lewis, KJJ, and Mcquitty all in the same class would be an embarrassment of riches! You'd be hard-pressed to redshirt any of those guys.
People who cover Ohio State are saying no one at OSU was prepared for this or had any idea it was coming.

Recruiting rankings are a prediction, albeit not a perfect one, of the talent you put on the field.The whole Calvin/Tyjon saga reminds me of he Seinfeld episode where Jerry always "ends up even". Girl dumps him, he's not worried because "I'll get a new one because I always end up even". Losing a 20$ bill then sticks his hand in his jacket pocket and finds a different one. In this case we maybe lost a 20 and stuck our hand in our pocket and found a $100. Tyjon>Calvin.

because he was tweeting OSU stuff and to other commits not long before the choice. Also OSU just recently moved 2 players to WR. Also why would Martell be so upset over him just opening his recruitment which means he voikd still choose OSU and has not yet commited to another team?

Guys get moved around all the time. You don't toss aside top 40 recruits because of it. You usually find other places to make room. Especially when, outside of dropping 60+ on us, you don't light up the scoreboard a ton this season.
Things are going to get awkward around here if we end up flipping Calvin. Maybe HTO has more info on if we cut bait or are entertaining the thought.

Who cares what Ohio State did, or didn't do. Tyjon is the #41 prospect in the country and from an area we've spent a ton of resources in.
I'm not an expert. There are varying degrees of severity for meniscal tears. And there's a difference between an electrician or salesman being 100% and a high performance athlete being 100% post recovery. But from what I understand, in most cases you're good now, you "pay for it" later in life.
So his injury happened in October, and he just had surgery at the end of December. Which if you're going to a sports specialist, there's gonna be a wait. But there's no way you could do any performance testing to see where his knee is at post op. He will be relying on speed and high impact/stress cuts as 5'9" receiver.
So our staff needs to complete due diligence on the injury, and if he's good that would be a great pickup for us.

Also, if we land Tyjon Lindsey, why would we need Calvin? They're both elite slot receivers, right?
I'd take them both. Can't have too many elite playmakers and we have the scholarships available at receiver. Besides, Calvin is 5'10" which isn't unheard of for a boundary receiver (Steve Smith and Antonio Brown come to mind).
