No it’s Bill O’BrIan, Don’t use your brain too much..O'Brian is called Coach Bob. The last guy we had named Bob did pretty good. I'll take that chance.

Let's clarify, not just a heads coach, any coach? Even one with little or no head coach experienceI simply want a coach who has coached in a program that has huge expectations and has been under the microscope like he will be here.
Going to bowl games at a G6 school or having a winning record at a perennial loser program where a winning season is exceeding expectations does not prepare them for the pressure cooker that Nebraska is.
A guy that couldn’t cut it at Texas? There are sea of coaches that fit this bill. There are so many coaches out there that are capped at 8ish wins per year. Lets call them the Ferentz Factor coaches. They are better than Frost, they’ll get us to a bowl game every year, they’ll vie for a division title once in awhile and maybe a conf game once in awhile. We’ll never win anything with them though.Herman is exactly why our speculation is purely for entertainment. There are guys out there that many fans aren’t thinking about. Herman would be a viable option IMO
I would rather have Herman than many of the names I’m reading on here
Meyer, M Stoops, Obrien
Again, it doesn’t have to be as the head coach. Just someone that has been at a pressure cooker program and experienced that.Good point but they all start somewhere.
Why Fickell, Cincy is not a pressure cooker and his short time at tOSU was a disaster. Fill me inMeyer, Kiffin and Fickell.
Gamble to take someone who has no experience running the whole thing. Could pay off too but big GambleAgain, it doesn’t have to be as the head coach. Just someone that has been at a pressure cooker program and experienced that.

Because he understands pressure cooker programs. Did you forget his role as various defensive coach roles, DC, assistant coach? I would hardly hold his lone season against him given the situation he was in. Urb thought enough of him to keep him on as DC.Why Fickell, Cincy is not a pressure cooker and his short time at tOSU was a disaster. Fill me in
Well, he can run his mouth, if he backs it up…I just want a coach who makes us competitive and doesnt run his ****ing mouth.
Clearly I want a guy that is currently a head coach. I just don’t want a guy who was a career Mac assistant, got the head job at Miami of Ohio or Vandy, had a little success and his first big time job would be as head coach of Nebraska.Gamble to take someone who has no experience running the whole thing. Could pay off too but big Gamble
I wasn’t lobbying for Herman. The point is there are guys out there that we’re not talking about. Herman would be a big upgradeA guy that couldn’t cut it at Texas? This is where I put the Fleck’s, Campbell’s, and Herman’s of the world. That is likely what we would get but I wouldn’t be excited.
Why not Dan Mullen? He had 1 bad year at Florida.I simply want a coach who has coached in a program that has huge expectations and has been under the microscope like he will be here.

Wonder if Joe Brady or Steve Emsinger would take OC should it be Aranda and Grimes gets HC at Baylor? Your pressure cooker description applies to OC/DC as well, IMO.Aranda was a DC at LSU and Wisconsin. Herman, whose record at Texas was pretty good in retrospect. I’m sure there are others.
This. Swing for the fences baby. So if Urban is off the table who then? I would like to see Bob Stoops or his brother at Kentucky or even Lane Kiffen.I simply want a coach who has coached in a program that has huge expectations and has been under the microscope like he will be here.

His specialty is defense, which I prefer in a head coach rather than offense,Why Fickell, Cincy is not a pressure cooker and his short time at tOSU was a disaster. Fill me in
Just my opinion, but I'm not sure Bob has enough fire in the belly left to resurrect a program like ours. As for his brother, I think he's overrated.This. Swing for the fences baby. So if Urban is off the table who then? I would like to see Bob Stoops or his brother at Kentucky or even Lane Kiffen.
This is not true. You also want the next coach to not be white.I simply want a coach who has coached in a program that has huge expectations and has been under the microscope like he will be here.

I think he wants the next coach to be competent. Period. This is not true. You also want the next coach to not be white.
Diaco was a dumpster fire wrapped inside a train wreck.O'Brian is called Coach Bob. The last guy we had named Bob did pretty good. I'll take that chance.
I hope ur right about ArandaI wasn’t lobbying for Herman. The point is there are guys out there that we’re not talking about. Herman would be a big upgrade
Personally I believe Aranda is the guy that Trev is going to money whip to take our job
Aranda connects a lot of dots. He would make a lot of sense but the buyout and length of contract he would demand could be an issue. Everybody is going to want a Mel Tucker dealI hope ur right about Aranda
Except he's actually proven a lot there in that conference from a ground up perspective. Unlike frosty... Anywhere...Chadwell would be kind of like Frost 2.0
Would gladly take him over Chadwell for the recordJeff Grimes impress’s me as offensive coordinator but has no head coaching experience but has also has had experience coaching offensive lines..
He has jumped high on my list of possibilities..
I don't think we're going to try for him because Trev isn't very smart. Out of the "realistic" possibilities, I think Deboer is the best. Mullen and Herman would be high on my list as well.I still think Urban is a possibility. He's certainly given it some thought. He's correctly pointed out that recruiting is the biggest challenge Nebraska faces.
Nebraska has to either have a dynamite head coach that draws the recruits in, or has to be in a conference that has a big talent pool, or some measure of both.
The Big Ten does have some large talent pools, but those have traditionally been tOSU and Mich recruiting grounds, and for whatever reason, we haven't been able to tap that talent pool, except when Bo did get some guys out of Ohio the first couple of years in the conference.
To me, we need to start competing in those talent pools, if we are going to stay in this conference. Urban certainly can recruit Ohio.
But for whatever reason though, and I wonder if it is fit/culture, we haven't been as successful recruiting those areas, and continue to look towards Florida, Texas, California and lately Louisiana for recruits. Something about that seems an easier sell, an easier fit than trying to get kids out of the B1G.
Exactly. I don't think we get Urban, but you can tell he is pondering it and to say otherwise is laughable. Also, just like you said, CFB is a recruiting game. Good coaching is fine and dandy, but to compete for any sort of trophy you need to bring in the best players. Urban would get top level players, but I also think that is why Mickey could work as well if you got him top level coordinators/recruiters. That guy gets dudes and we need dudes. Pair him with like Will Muschamp and an elite O-Coordinator and see what happens, otherwise you need to pull in an Urban or Bob Stoops type coach. You see it all of the time. When Georgia smacked Oregon to open the year, Kirby Smart basically said Dan Lanning is a great coach, he just doesn't have my roster. Roster matters.I still think Urban is a possibility. I don't think you're wrong, I know you are wrong. A little odd your reponse. Tuco's a big boy, he can clear up what he meant when he brought up race. I don't think he will make any other effort to do so, because it is clear what he meant.I think he wants the next coach to be competent. Period.
I think right now Urban is looking for reasons to not discuss taking the NU. In other words, he is very interested, it has everything he wants.Exactly. I don't think we get Urban, but you can tell he is pondering it and to say otherwise is laughable. Also, just like you said, CFB is a recruiting game. For me, I get the whole get a Leipold, Klieman, etc... culture guy, but those guys aren't ever going to win anything of significance. We should not strive to be KSU, KU, Iowa, etc. Try to be better. Don't settle for just being good, just because you've been failing for a bit.
Made me think of Oscar Gamble. NY Yankees back in the day.Gamble to take someone who has no experience running the whole thing. Could pay off too but big Gamble
