I'm assuming this was a pistol, and didn't belong to the 16 year old as it isn't legal to own one in Florida before the age of 18. I'd really like to see the parent or person who made the weapon available to this kid by not properly securing the gun go to prison as well. That's the law on the books but it almost never gets made a part of the charge in these situations.
