I know it's a brave new world with millenials and social media, but this is inappropriate for a coach to do unless hes told them hes coming back.

May even be a violation.
The more I think about it, this just may be the pre-hype to the official announcement of his return tonight. It isn’t a violation, but I can’t imagine a member of the coaching staff tweeting this if they didn’t know he was coming back. All hype building IMO and I don’t blame them if that is the case

Wonder how many would show up at MSG for a Hokie Game? Maybe 150, while UK would have 6-7K. If that is where he wants to go, more power to him. Just don't cry when next year's draft doesn't include him

I would bet plenty of money that it doesn’t include him regardless.

He’s gonna be 23 or so. He’s already reached his potential in college and consistent with the numbers he has put up the past couple of years. His footwork is still slow and things like that don’t typically get better in your 5th year. If scouts wanted to take a chance on him they would have already done that. You and I both know that your chances only go down as you get older. This year was a weak draft for big men too.

That is a very valid point...and that poor fella on Twitter last night would just be 24 hours off.

Haha

Whatever.

Spend another year at the same school that has done absolutely nothing for your draft stock.

Bruh he averaged almost a double double in the ACC. It’s pretty clear that the scouts don’t like him as a prospect for the style of today’s NBA. He’s gonna be 23. If you think he’s done bad at VT or not enough to even get a look, then why do you want him here? He’s clearly put up the college numbers to turn national eyes yet no scouts want to take him. His game does not translate well and he’s reached his potential. That doesn’t make him a bad college player though.

Well clearly he was a little interested in doing something for himself individually. Why else would he have considered (or still be considering) a transfer in the first place?

And not for nothing, but the ACC will be fairly strong at the top next year. VaTech lost players, they'll be down.. but they'll still have to play Duke, UNC, UofL, Virginia.

If I'm a guy who has one last chance to show out and NOT have losses/bad performances against good teams... ACC would be my last choice.

So you're going to stay at a non-basketball school, who just lost 3 of it's best players, in hopes that you show out enough for the NBA, and can make the NCAAT, going up against 4 top15 teams? Yikes.

Pretty much signals he’s returning to VT. Just my opinion, but they are simply dropping a hint as he likely told them today he’s sticking around. All part of the “game”.

I'm imagining that it would be awfully embarrassing for that assistant coach if he doesn't come back after that.

Kinda how I read that as well.

If that isn’t the case tho, then that’s a low ball move by their staff to try to play a guilt trip card and insinuate you aren’t loyal if you go somewhere to better your own position in your pursuit of your dreams.

He graduated. He’ll always be a Hokie and have love for the school no doubt. Blacksburg is an awesome college town. But that is the exact opposite of how we treat guys who have left, even before graduating. Our staff and fans have still shown a ton of support for the Wiltjer and Matthews of the world and encouraged them to do whatthey thought best for theirselves and their families.

Sounds like he is staying put and they are building hype for the season. Still seems crazy for him to make such a show of leaving only to stay. What did he gain besides a few campus tours? The exposure will fade by end of week if he stays. This whole thing is wacky.

I don't see how anyone can take that to mean he is going to stay at VT. Bizarre take IMO.

I also think it's counterproductive. Basically telling the guy if you don't return, you are not loyal. That would really make me want to come back. Also, his coach just left the program, so preaching loyalty is pretty rich.

I hope we are never desperate enough to have one of our coaches beg a player to stay on Twitter. That's when you know you have a pathetic program.
