Twas the night before Selection Sunday
Not a bid stealer was stirring, not even a bubble
The Quad One wins were hung on the team sheet with care
In hopes that Greg Gumbel soon would be there

The fans were gathered all dressed in red
While visions of nine seeds danced in their heads
And the Knight with his sword, his armor in Scarlet
Was ready to do battle, fighting on for Rutgers' honor

When out from the big screen arouse such a clatter
The Sleeping Giant had awoken after 30 years of somber
The brackets were posted region by region
Rutgers had hit the big time so said the chatter

A nine seed he called, an 8/9 game of matter
On Friday we ball, a team full of hunger
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But Coach Pikiell and his 8 ballers getting in gear

With a lunch pail work ethic, ever the grind
We knew in a moment it must mean NCAA time
More rapid than eagles, his charges they came
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name

Now Jacob! Now Myles! Now Baker and Caleb!
On Paul! On Cliff! On Montez and Harper!
To the top of the bracket to the top of the region
Now dance, dance, dance the night away

So out to Indianapolis they players they flew
With a resume full of wins and confidence too
And in our dreams we saw on a loop
Threes raining down all through the hoop

And all through the week, Coach Pikiell would appear
Rutgers Nation could not hold back shedding a tear
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon let us know we had nothing to dread

He spoke not a word but went straight to his work
He clasped the ball, to his team gave a whistle
And away they all shone like a team on a mission
But I heard him exclaim as he went out of sight
RUTGERS IS DANCING, LACE YOUR SHOES UP TIGHT!

Not worried at all.

Figure if we don't get picked somehow, we all go to Indy and blow up the Big Ten Headquarters or Lucas Oil Stadium.

Best of Luck,
Groz

The poem was 30 years in the making. Sort of like Brian Wilson finally releasing the Smile Album. Lol.
Great job Bac!
