Anyone know if this is a national tv game or is there a regional map anywhere and everywhere else on fs1 or something, else?

Thanks

As far as I can tell, it is a national broadcast, because there is no other game listed as being on Fox at the same time.

Kind of odd to have a national game with a team like Akron.

Also an upset alert. Akron is a good team, and would be favored if FHCMR was still here. They aren't going to give up easy points, broken plays, penalties that we normally see in openers. We are going to have to earn everything because of their experience on defense. And obviously our strength isn't defense so we are going to give up over 20 points. And it is likely going to be really wet which will affect our offense quite a bit, going to have to grind it, which will keep the score close.

Won’t the wet field also affect their offense a bit?

They return 9 starters on defense, we are just hoping to have a bad defense, so if they can zero on the run game because the ball is slick and hard to catch we are going to have a heck of a time. That will keep the game close. A high scoring game will always be in the favor of a Frost offense...a messy grind it out game will equalize the two teams.

Makes sense, but if we get players in space, I believe (hope) those 9 starters will be at a disadvantage and just grasping at air.

No, Akron would never be favored over Nebraska even if Larry the cable guy was coaching us.

I would never argue for a team to overlook another team, but I think you're giving Akron a little bit too much credit here. I haven't checked myself, but I'm going to assume you are correct about them returning 9 starters on defense. We're talking about 9 returning starters from a team that finished 7-7 in a fairly weak MAC conference. 9 returning starters from a defense that finished 103rd in Total Defense and 73rd in Scoring Defense. Not exactly a juggernaut on defense, and it's not like they faced a bunch of amazing offenses that hurt that statistic.

Of their 7 wins, 6 came against teams that finished at or below .500; including 4 teams that finished with 2 wins (one of those was 2-9 Arkansas Pine Bluff, an FCS school that had one of their 2 wins against a D2 school that finished below .500). Their only win over a team that finished over .500 was against Ohio, who finished 9-4. They also lost to 5-7 Miami (OH). Their offense didn't exactly light the world on fire either, finishing 121st in Total Offense and 107th in Scoring Offense.

I know the weather can serve as a little bit of an equalizer, but even so, this game shouldn't be any sort of real big issue, unless Nebraska plays like total crap.
