Some NFL scouts fall in love with measurables.....and Turay has plenty

Maybe he could be another Mike Mamula!!

The stories that Mamula was drafted only based on his combine and was an NFL bust are both myths. Mamula's stock increased because he was one of the 1st combine warriors, but he probably would've been drafted in the 1st round no matter what. He was incredibly productive at BC, with 29 sacks over his last 2 seasons. In the NFL he had 30 sacks in 5 seasons before suffering a bunch of injuries and retiring.

Most players don't make it to 5 years/30 sacks, so if Turay can get at least that far, he's done well for himself.

Saw this note about Turay today:

Kemoko Turay played DE at Rutgers. He is listed at LB for the Senior Bowl. He got a chance to show his pass rush skills in the 1-on-1’s and didn’t disappoint. Turay was quick off the ball and used a good shoulder dip to get by multiple blockers. At 6-4, 252, Turay could be a 3-4 OLB or a 4-3 DE.

freak athlete at the DE-will get teams interest. If he had not had the injuries he had, who knows what his stock would be right now.

I can see it already: With the # pick of the (3-5) round, the NE Patriots select Kemoko Turay.

With all the buzz around UTSA EDGE Marcus Davenport, these are the types of athletic movements we aren’t seeing there. Put a scout in a room with film from Day 1 and Day 2 of this year’s Senior Bowl and have them watch Turay and Davenport move and they’ll tell you Turay is the coveted player

I might have spoken to soon about the Natick shade but Kemoko was the first name that came out of Natick mouth on Good Morning Football as a sleeper for the first two days of the draft. He is shooting up draft boards and if he runs a great 40 at the draft, watch out. I will be right people.

I see him testing at the combine very well. I doubt there’s a more athletic edge rusher at his size. The kid from Oklahoma is gonna be good too, but not as big

I can't wait to see his testing numbers. We all know he is fast, but he could test really fast. There were several games where he flashed across the screen so fast i thought it was a safety until I saw the replay. He has a super quick burst and closing speed.

I hope you're right! Either way people will be pissed at Ash. If he goes high, his lack of production was because of Ash, if he goes low its because Ash didn't use him the right way. :flushed:

Personally, i think Ash did a great job of teaching him to be a complete player and that's good for Turay and RU.

People like to rip players because it takes the blame off the coaches. They can’t handle the fact that Ash is just not that good.

And some people don't understand CA is in only his second year and yet continue to criticize. Can't think of more than a few coaches who may have done better than what CA has done at this point in his career here at RU. Lets pass judgement when his first class of recruits are Seniors. By then the roster will be his and the results will determine if 1 he can coach, 2 he can recruit and 3 he has the right staff hired. Until then enjoy the ride and let's support the team
